The Jets are our bunny team, we've scored way more goals against them than anyone else in the league!

Game still happening at this stage - but behind closed doors due to the Covid situation in Gosford where the match is being played.

'With another game against Sydney three days later, coach Gemma Lewis hinted she was likely to rotate her squad across the two fixtures.
Striker Grace Jale was back in the frame after sitting out the last game with a hamstring complaint but will be on limited minutes, while winger Kelli Brown has also been cleared of injury after coming off early."

Pretty end to end at the moment but Newcastle still able to control things better. We can hold the ball across our backline ok, but as soon as we go forward we go for all out attack. Need to figure out our transition play.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

I thought we looked threatening which was pleasing.

I don't know what Knott really offers up top myself - seems to have a poor touch and takes bad options. Works hard, but I'd rather see Jade.

Overall, our best half IMO.

They seem to have cut out the number of over ambitious long passes and are playing with a bit more confidence on the ball and keeping possession better.

Newcastle probably will look to keep them running around and press them a bit more.

But pretty good showing.

We still have a shocking passing completion - not least in the final third

Sure, but for a young team you mainly want to see them improving and adjusting. I think they've done that within this half and, as the half time chat agrees, a big improvement between the two games.

Still, they'll need to hold it together for another half.

Damn! What a fight there. Was even thinking they might pinch it. Had a couple of half chances.
This team definitely putting respect on the Phoenix name.

Huge improvement and big effort by the girls.
They ran so much, were notably fatigued with 15 to go. Thought we needed fresh legs to get us through that last period and to rest some players with Sydney now in 4 days time..
Am surprised Martin is not getting more game time. She's proven at this level. And I thought Knott was a DM. Not sure if playing her up high is working out.
Wisnewski just gets better each game, and Barry really stepped up this game.
If they can keep improving like this, then a win will surely come.

Very good performance, just about deserved a draw. Barry, Wisnewski and Alfeld were outstanding.

great overall performance form the women, we definitely need to get Kramer and Jale on the field more. Knott's ball control lets her down so much when she is up front. It was mentioned last night but she almost works too hard and is often out of position - finding herself out wide when she is supposed to be the central player. Thought Barry, Wisnewski and Whinham played really well. Whinham totally deserved her contract upgrade.

Watched the second half and, on the balance of play, the Jets deserved the win. Regardless, it's always gut wrenching when you're holding out for a draw and give up a goal in the last 10 minutes. Thought we showed some good attacking intent, especially in transition, but I was pretty unhappy with our decision making. Oftentimes we opted for a long, diagonal ball when there was a midfielder open who would have been in a position to carry the ball forward and then make the pass. Something to work on in training I guess

Good to see that Sky are offering commentary options for Phoenix men's and women's games now via your Sky remote control.
I tried it for the first time during the last Phoenix Women's match.
You press the yellow button on your remote and use your "up" and "down" arrow buttons to select a commentary ("ENGLISH" is the Kiwi Sky commentary and either of the other language options is the Aussie Paramount Plus commentary)
Even if you prefer the Kiwi commentary, by using this feature you can get the sideline commentator comments and interviews which are cut from Sky's Kiwi broadcast (e.g. the sideline interview with Tom Sermanni during the first Phoenix Women's match which had no audio during the Sky broadcast, only the visual).

It's bye bye Fred for me too. He just drones on and on and on. A very bland voice. Sadly, the female commentator sounds quite aggressive and masculine and bland. Still the most important issue is that we actually have our own professional women's football team. Awesome job Nix!!

Yep agree - he talks over top of the action and misses  the key plays.
The Aussies let the play speak for itself mostly…
