Marildas still have a friendly to play in Geelong on Saturday night so the Aussie Internationals are still in camp

The FFA organised 4 matches during this window for the Matildas . Two games for the established players vs Brazil and two games vs Taiwan for the players they wish to develop. That is why they split the ALW round to maximise the days in the break.

Today's Starting Lineup

Longo is back in and we have Alivia Kelly on the bench

If we get the ball to Tanaka like they are feeding their right winger, we may do okay. Not giving her the right balls

Great work by Longo - not just the goal but pouncing on their mistake to create the opportunity

We gave Pringle far too much time on the ball there for the Roar to even things up.

Not the best way to finish the half

Costly mistake, not sure if it’s the grass but there seem to be a few under hit passes so far …

We are fortunate to be level, with the ineptness of Brisbane.  Last ditch stuff from Barry,Jaber and the keeper have often rescued us.

If we go back as much as we have done, and give the ball away like we have done, then we are in trouble.

Strong wind against us second half.

Jaber needed to step across to cover the run in behind.

She literally didn't actively defend the threat until the runner made the 6 yard box.

Happens every second game this type of goal. Who is teaching these women the art of positioning.

Give her a short term loan in January until the NWSL starts up in March - help her get her fitness up and help us with a bit more creativity up front - win win 😋

Wow Longo again!

Seems like a goalkeeping error there, but Annalie Longo did very well to create space for herself to get that shot away!

Also I believe Longo had only scored 1 goal for the Nix before today - and it too was against the Roar!

Two in a row, two for Longo, great job girls!

A nice end to a disappointing and frustrating weekend.

Great work! 2-1 win - that's 2 wins in a row and the season feels back on track again!

We looked much better defensively in the 2nd half - I would've expected the Roar to cause more problems in the 2nd half with the wind at their backs

It wasn't perfect but we were resolute, combatant where we needed to be and took our chances when they came. Sure we got a bit of good fortune with Roars' errors, but we did well closing them down and reducing their chances, then managed the game fairly well once in front 2-1. Considering they've been one of the best teams this season - excellent result.

All that said though - definitely aided by Yallop and Freier being away on int duty

Well,if we deserved to win it was because we battled hard and defended like Trojans, against a overly physical Brisbane team and a ref that struggled with some of the basics.

It was an awful game but the wind had much to do with that, and we will take the win.

But Brisbane gifted us both goals, and we never looked like scoring apart from that. They papered over some cracks for us today. On replay, looks like possibly our second goal was an own goal, and got a touch away from the keeper in the wind.

Kelly certainly will be a key player.
Ferguson works very hard, but I think we need a lot of improvement upfront, and in midfield.

Yes, there was a fair bit of argy bargy in the game, and Whinham got under De la Harpe's skin all right. Dominating physically is important providing you don't get carried away (i.e. elbow to the cheek), so I won't complain if we see more 'fire' from the squad in future games.

Couldnt care less what it looked like a wins a win dont get extra points for winning playing " good football".
After yesterday was more than happy to take that.
Some good humour in the stand especially if your a fan of "Cars" and seagull impressions.

For the record the standard of play was low but the argie bargy made it more interesting.
Not sure what was worse out the officiating and Dewhurst asking green about what shin pads she wears.

Longo offside for first goal?

It was mighty tight for offside based on the replay, for sure.

I feel we've had legit goals scratched after being called offside. Swings and roundabouts I guess.

No VAR so can only go with what the onfield ref decides.

The tv angle for judging any possible offside by Longo was terrible. The AR would at least have been in line with it all (I'd hope). No VAR in women's games. It's a goal!
