Erm, heard of a guy called Mile Jedinak? Reasonably good player in the A-League though not amazing - now currently captaining an EPL club and consistently one of their best players and joined them at 28.

Not a winger, nor entirely reliant on speed or agility to make it as a player.

Also, he is the exception, not the norm.

I think he is probably happier at Crystal Palace.

Very much the exception. For every one Jedinak you could name plenty that go and late and do not make it.

I'm pretty sure you don't lose your speed and agility by fucking 22. Tommy Oar seems to be going alright.

Jedinak moving to Palace at 28 was what I meant...you wouldn't want to be starting your European career as a winger in your 30s...

I thought rojas had a solid game tonight for not having any first team action in a while.  His footwork was very impressive but I see what his coach means with holding the ball a bit to long at times.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Marco hasn't lost his pace or incredible technique. I think he was forced out wide too often as we didn't really own the midfield. It's hard to play pass and move football when you really only have one outlet moving forward so it's understandable that he was having to beat players to make space rather than letting ball movement do the work

Yeah, I thought he had decent game. The odd decision he got wrong. But on the whole good effort.

Was he injured last night or was that just a tactical switch from Hudson?

assuming injured. He took a heavy knock to the knee.

If it was tactical, it has to be one of the worst switches I have ever seen. Changed a game where we had the upper foot, to one we got dominated in

wasting his time, really really honestly needs to get the f*ck out of there right now. Would be better off playing league 2 in the UK than being hated by a manager in the 2. Liga.

I wonder how much of an interest Stuttgart are retaining in watching him, or he is out of sight out of mind

Armin Veh, coach of VFB Stuttgart, resigned. They are last place on the ladder and he said they new needs a new coach. Bad times for the club, no consistency in management and coaching.

Come back to the A-League. Re-assess. Try and push for a place in a league like the Eredivisie. He needs game time.

question is: what would it actually take to bring him back to the A-league, what are the clauses of his Stuttgart and subsequent year loan deal to Bavaria??

I've read they have major financial problems which is at the root of their problems and can't afford to buy any decent players.

They spent too much a few years ago and the club directors told the Director of Football, Bobic before last season that he had two seasons to reduce the wage bill by 50%.

Rojas was the sort of cheap or free player they could acquire - sending him out on loan currently will also help reduce the wage bill.

There's no easy way out for Stuttgart as they have no money to buy players in the January window and will probably have to sell the handful of decent ones they have.

Relegation seems certain - maybe after they lose any remaining decent players, Marco will get a chance with them next season in the 2.Bundesliga.

Fuerth played 0:0 against Heidenheim. Marco not even on the bench.

It's very dark and friggin cold over there, the next few month will be hard time for him.

Hardly any teams have international marquee spots open so could struggle to fit Rojas in. I think going elsewhere in Europe is his best bet. Either way there wouldn't be many players who fail in 2 Bundesliga who become top players, would there?

"There's rumours that he's coming back to the A-League so there's always options," Rojas Sr said.

"Ernie [Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick] signed him for Melbourne Victory so he knows what Marco can do. I've talked to the Phoenix a lot and we don't close any doors.

And here I thought it was Ange Postecogleu that signed him all this time

I think he got signed on the basis that Ange was going to come to Melbourne, and then they couldn't get him IIRC. So yeh, it was Merrick that actually signed him...
