I didn't know RB is such a problem. Anyway, I hope they have a little patience with him, as the last time he played RB  was at Unterhaching more than a year ago.

I read a couple of other guys are trialling and perhaps for the same position. He will more than likely need to impress, so don't know how much time will he get.

I don't think he has to worry about playing centre-back.  Having seen him play do you personally think he has a future, or is it unclear? Have you watched A-league, is he at that level?

[/quote]

I haven't watched much A-League, so I don't really know. Football in Germany is very competitive, even at the youth level, but he would sure face the transition to a pro-league, which is certainly more physical. But he has a strong body and always liked playing with adults more than youth teams, and he is really motivated.

Oh well, all the best to him. Please let us know how he goes in case you find out early :)
And if you are in contact with him, wish him luck from the fans.

Dominik had a terrible streak of bad luck at Bayern - injured in the first week of practice, fought his way back into the team. A few weeks after he had established his place in the starting formation he suffered a torn syndesmosis (while playing Chelsea reserves) - surgery, crutches. Just back practicing, a fellow player jumped on his ankle - torn ligaments again.

Bayer U19 already had too many injured players, so they asked him to join Unterhaching near Munich, whose U19 played in the same league. Dominik played there for half a year, but got frustrated there and decided to play for SV Pullach (now playing Bayernliga, which is the fifth level in Germany), where we live, in order to finish high school.

This March he got a call from an agent in Australia asking him for a trial in Wellington, but he could not manage before the end of the season due to some paperwork, so he went last week. Let's see how this turns out.

So far about the last two years. I hope he has more luck in the future. I am Austrian, by the way, so my English is not perfect, as you will have noticed :)

Good luck Dominic

Sounds like he has had some real bad luck with injuries. He must have some potential to make the Bayerm U19 team. The good thing about this is he obviously still has a burning desire to make it in pro football. So hopefully he impresses in his trial and makes the grade.

His Dad never mentioned him playing in the Austrian U19 team.....would be interested to  here about that.

Great to hear from you traujo.

Has Dominik ever been to New Zealand before?

If he was signed how do you think he (and you!) would cope with living and playing on the other side of the world?

right back and left back have been problem positions for us. We have just let our only incumbent fullback go, so now we really have no players who are guaranteed to start at left or right back. Also the coach seems to have a very different system and idea of the role of his fullbacks so best of luck to Dominik!

Traunmüller played in Germany by Unterhaching, Bayern München and SV Pullach.

Pullach was in the 6th league of Germany. Many of the users here would say "pub football".

My opinion is that other NZ players which play in Germany(example Dominique Jourdan) have the same level than Traunmüller.

SV Pullach Pub Football? They have training 3 times a week.

Okay but Germany isn´t New Zealand.

Most of the teams from league 7th until league 4th have training (min.) 3 times at week.

The "Bayernliga" is the worst competition from all 5th leagues in Germany.

But he have only a trial by Phoenix, when he isn´t good enough they can send him back.

However it would be cool when he can sign a contract. Good luck! ;)

He posted some really helpful and insightful information about Dominik, but he is apparently the lad's Dad - and I assume he had second thoughts about the wisdom of publishing information about his son in such a public forum.  Understandable, but there was nothing for either of them to be ashamed of in the posts.  It was just good, helpful background material about who he has played for, how he performed, injuries and the like.  Traujo - I can understand why you deleted your posts, but I just want to thank you for taking the time to visit the site, answer questions and for being so open.  It was genuinely great of you.

well that was strange....not really anything to harm his chances at the club or anything just more of an insight into what he has been upto for the last few years. Atleast we have an idea as to why he dropped leagues etc..
