so far we have USA will face off against Colombia in Wellington on Wednesday 10th June 730pm
Second stage, Knock Out, pointy end stage
and that the Mighty 3rd Place Acers from Aotearoa have rocked thweir way into the knock out stage!!
and will either play Ghana in Wellington or Portugal in Hamilton. Anyone planning to road trip to Hamilton if that's where we end up?
do you know, Mr G, when we will find out which venue it is??
No idea, do they have to wait for all teams to finish their last games? Will keep trolling the fifa.com page anyway.
Won't know til after tomorrow's group F games I think.
I'm fairly sure that only one of 3rd E & F can get through. So, by my reckoning, the games featuring 3rd placed teams will be thus:
Portugal v NZ
Ghana v Mali
Ukraine v Senegal
Serbia v 3rd E/F.
Then again, I was always crap at this at World Cups 86-94, so I'm probably way off
(Edit - Found the Tournament Rules online, and worked out where Senegal & Mali go)
I'm really stoked Colombia are going to be playing in Wellington, they are one of my favourite teams, so will be at the stadium to cheer them on. Then on Thursday catch the bus up to Hamilton and watch Portugal take on yet to be confirmed opponent. Pax on my ticket says 3131. Am keen to sit with other forumites if they will be in attendance :-)
I've just realised that it is possible for 3rd in both E & F to qualify; so, if Nigeria v Hungary is a draw, and both Fiji & Honduras win, then ignore my last post
Fiji and Honduras both drawing with Uzbek and Germany respectively 30 min in
Wellington game v Ghana still possible?

No because Fiji need to win and win big.
R16 on Wed:
Ghana vs Mali (Welly 4pm)
Serbia vs Hungary (Dun 4pm)
USA vs Colombia (Welly 7.30pm)
Ukraine vs Senegal (Auck 7.30pm)
R16 on Thurs:
Austria vs Uzbekistan (Whanga 4)
Germany vs Nigeria (Chch 7.30)
Portugal vs NZ (Tron 7.30)
Brazil vs Uruguay (NP 7.30)
just seen Patrick post the same thing
Portugal have the easiest match up
Austria to make the final. Heard it from me first.
3 games on at the same time on Thursday?
Means that the attendances will be higher as more people will attend the games after work. Makes sense to me.

Semi :
Brazil-Austria
Germany-Serbia
Final:
Brazil - Serbia
Wishful thinking...

That is a fair point, but for me I would want to watch the other games as well so more likely to stay at home

I agree also, having three games at the same time like that could minimise crouds instead of increase them...if people are keen they would have the day off work...NZ vs Portugal, Brazil vs Uruguay, Germany vs Nigeria at the same time? Mmm
Probably didn't bank on us making it when they did the scheduling.
Also... times are probably selected in part with international markets in mind.
don't know, go to Germany v Nigeria , MySky NZ game.
Probably the best schedule for football I'll ever get in Chch :)
I can see this NZ v Portugal game selling out. Everyone I talk to in Hamilton are buying tickets. People who usually never go to sporting things, the hype is building.
but but stuff said ticket sales were slow.
PAX on my 3rd ticket is 5376 for the Hamilton game
Email at 7.00am
Pretty sure these games are tomorrow

Took a long time to find a concise fixture list for the round of 16. a reflection on the lack of coverage or my social media skills or both
Nice exchange of passing for Mali's goal.
cruel own goal...
I am obviously very happy that Serbia won the game (harder than I expected to be honest), but the moment I jumped off my chair to celebrate, I realised how cruel this was for that Hungarian chap. He probably came to NZ dreaming of great things, and now this happened to him...Family, friends and the whole nation watching. This game can be very, very cruel.
Zealem is good to watch.
I'm shark at betting. Just for fun put a $1 multi bet on all 8 round of 16 games - 1 bet for each game, mixture of head to head and half time/full time etc. Didn't make it past half time in the first game.
Goodbye to Ghana, Hungary, Colombia and Ukraine.
I personally had a great night of entertainment. shame it's slowly coming to an end :-(
The Senegalese goalkeeper was incredibly entertaining...some great saves in all that as well

Just below the horizontal calendar, there is a "group matches" link and a "second stage" link. The second stage link provides a nice pyramid graphic.
