Anyone else's stream gettign a little bit jumpy?

The jumpiness on the stream disappeared after pausing the stream then selecting "live". Skipped a few seconds to catch up, but I did it during a stoppage in play. Only had to do it once during the half.

Just a note to advise the Men’s U-23s Pacific Games campaign will be shown LIVE on Maori TV as below (please note the Friday’s first match against the Solomon Islands will not be televised – text updates will be available via OFC Website/Twitter).

Sunday 5 July – New Zealand v Papua New Guinea (5pm, NZ time)

Tuesday 7 July – New Zealand v New Caledonia (4pm, NZ time)

Friday 10 July – Semi-final 1 (1pm, NZ time)

Likelihood of the other games being shown on MaoriTV??

Qualifying in the islands is not about pretty football, it's about qualification. The conditions, opposition & officials make it almost impossible to play any other way and your forced to resort to the same level as your opposition. Today was a tough test but there are tougher ones on the horizon. That is when we will see the true steel of this squad and the coaching prowess of Mr. Hudson

Here is an example typical of the kind of amateurish stupidity you get from officials at events like the Pacific Games:

http://www.fijitimes.com/story.aspx?id=312432

Pacific Games Committee chief executive Andrew Minogue said New Zealand had previously complained about the schedule of games and said it was too strenuous.

"We went back and checked and found that Olympic qualifiers had previously been played in more strenuous conditions," he added.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Er... to have been more strenuous, teams in the past would have to have played games every day with no break in-between.

These people really don't have a clue. Earlier in the week the PNG Minister of Sport claimed that it was quite normal for international football tournaments to schedule five games in ten days.

Total crap of course  - at the u-20 World Cup  in NZ, teams played five games in 14 days (the teams who made the quarter-finals).

It's standard at FIFA tournaments to have two days between matches in the group stage, then three days between a team's last group game and their Round of 16 game, then two or three days until the quarter-final...

NZ are now confirmed to have topped their group (for Olympic purposes - New Caledonia are equal on points but aren't eligible for the Olympics) and will play in the second semi-final on Friday at 4.30 pm NZT.

The game vs. New Caledonia on Tuesday is now irrelevant.

NZ's opponent in the semi on Friday (the second team in Group A) will be Vanuatu if Fiji beat Tahiti in their next game - or Fiji if Fiji lose to Tahiti and Vanuatu beat Micronesia by 40 goals or more. (Tahiti are not eligible to make the semi-final because they're not an Olympic member).

Of course Vanuatu seem preferable because I think Fiji seem the best of our prospective opponents.

I'm confident Vanuatu will hold up their end of the bargain in this particular scenario.

Not good.

NZ Football are carrying out a review of the National League set up should spend a bit of time sorting out their media department!  These are Olympic Qualifiers! They should be on the TV preferably free to air bit, at the very least, Sky sports. We shouldn't all have to scramble around trying to find a live feed its crazy!

I blame Maori Tv... not being racist, but they probably looked at their target market and thought why?

They were however showing a local league game... all major domestic sports get on NZ TV on some channel except football. Surely we can market, record and sustain a commercial package as successfully at domestic rugby league.

Yeah. Mt Albert v Papakura. Croud looked to be about 50 - 75 or so. Anyway, the question is, how come NZF put out the game being shown by MaoriTV as fact when it turns out to be fiction? And why aren't they offering those who were misled an explanation/apology?

My comment isn't racist, but based on accepted generalisation. Football in NZ is traditionally a eurocentric game whereas League is played by Maori and Pacific Islanders generally. Thus, it nots surprising they (Maori Tv) show a local league game which reflects their demographic.

Whilst we are seeing more multicultrualism in football it is stall in its infancy.

Please feel free to tell me where I went wrong or somehow would have offended said players. I stated I didn't want my comment taken as a racial dig, because its not although I new some people like yourself may read it that way.... meaning is often lost in text.

Their decision was a commercial one and probably the best decision all things considered. I don't like it, but i understand it.

Your mistake was the bit I bolded. Just dont ever use this phrase.  So many people have experienced racist comments predicated by "not being racist but" that when someone uses it innocently it can be misinterpreted.

If you had written "I blame Maori Tv...they probably looked at their target market and thought why?" you most probably wouldnt have copped any comments. That version is clear on its intent and doesnt infer racism.

Actually, my thoughts on this are that this is one of the few times where "I'm not racist but" hasn't been followed up by a racist comment.

"Maori Soccer reaches a milestone today announcing Te Rarawa and Tainui's West Ham Untied (sic) Soccer defender Winston Reid as the new Maori Soccer Ambassador etc. etc...."

not a doco but at least getting a mention on MaoriTV news (day before Nix v West Ham Untied match)

no link but you'll read article and see vid if you put Winston's name into MaoriTV search engine.

NB I read it when I was trying to find why they weren't showing us the PNG match. And today of course they're not showing us the  New Cal game, instead it's Penguins of Madagascar at 4.30 on main channel. Or, on their second channel, also at 4.30, we can join Tama, Hine and Pepi plus the Pukero crew as they sing, dance, act and explore their way through the universe.

Still no word from NZF on their Facebook, Twitter or website on the Maori TV broadcast cockup.

To be fair to Maori TV, they never announced anywhere publically that they were screening the Pacific Games football.

The only people who did were NZF, the Stuff website (at the bottom of an article on Sunday morning) and a moderator on this forum thread last week.

So the question is, where did these people get their information from?

It is all a bit bizarre.

From what i saw on the Maori TV schedule, they were going to be showing highlights from the Pacific Games around that time on Sunday afternoon. Perhaps someone at Football NZ did not realise that the U23 tournament is part of a wider event, and just took a wild leap of logic.

Hopefully Maori TV are going to show more games highlights packages, that may include at least some of the football?
