Given the experience of rufer riddenton and others i would prefer we signed older players (19-21) who could push for/be genuine back up for first team spots, rather than hand out contracts to train to 16-17 year olds.

So burns has trained for 3 days with fc Tokyo and they have a game this weekend in the 2nd leg of the jleague (which is what they were signing him for). Still no word on him signing. I believe he will be coming back to Wellington

Logan Rogerson better get one of those youth spots.

Still think Deklan Wynne would be better option than Tom Doyle if he's young enough for a youth spot.

But would he get a starting spot, why replace one kiwi with another just to sit on the pine if lucky.

Wynne should target overseas.

I'm pretty sure Rogerson has a 3 year contract based on what I was told prior to his arrival in Wellington.

I think he's good enough to push for a starting spot, certainly more so than Doyle (not writing him off yet just think Wynne is better and is higher up the pecking order in NZ Football too)

Gone through on 'Transfermarket' site and from experience that means it's done. Just no official announcement yet. Probably printing more Yen to pay the ex Phoenix man.

Fernandez would be a perfect fit actually - hard to believe he's free agent. He was tipped for big things at Feyenoord, maybe Ernie could polish the potential gem. On the right side of 29 too.

I wonder how Ryan rates him (Guyon on the right). Actually, it's hard to imagine Ryan saying anything bad about anyone.

Archie signed for the Vuc.

With the 200k 'loyalty bonus' that the FFA has just implemented, does this mean that we can use this for Dura, Lia and the like and free up a bit of money?

How many players are eligible and how many seasons at a club before they meet the criteria? Do they have to be unbroken years, could Moss qualify?

“With the Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations between FFA and PFA stalling, we moved to reach a position with Archie that enables him to stay and commence pre-season training as a contracted player on Monday."

ie probably pay for minimum wage & if the loyalty bonus gets introduced we will pay you the max.

If the rumours about Keogh not wanting to return to the Glory are true, i wouldn't mind throwing our hat into the ring for him as a Burns replacement.

Do we put on enough community fashion shows to be able to afford him?

Anyway, I didn't really rate him that highly at the Glory. Fell off badly in the 2nd half of the season. Could do worse, though.

You've GOT to be kidding!? I thought his work ethic was awesome. He was deadly in front of goal, ran and ran and ran (Greenacre-esque in that department) and I thought came across in all the Glory coomunity engagement stuff that I followed as a really nice down to earth guy. The kids at the schools and stuff loved him.

I got the feeling that was more about the role they gradually drifted into, with him stuck up front by himself, than his ability. From what I saw at the start of the season when they were playing less conservatively he would fit in with our style of play perfectly.

No point getting our hopes on it though. He'll probably end up in Sydney or Melbourne, after the FFA grant him a special new marquee status for players that have played internationally and have a surname beginning with the letter K.

He's a good player and the kind of player we need, i.e. someone who can finish and is taller than 5ft 6. However, he is complicit in Perth's salary cap breach, which makes me question his integrity. It might not really matter to the Nix, but if I was a coach or CEO it would give me pause.

Why is he implicit.

At a guess all contract negotiations were done by his agent and he would have assumed that he / she along with the club would play within the rules.

(Warning: posted from iPhone so I can't see half of what I am doing) With deafening silence on potential signings going on at the mo. I'd like hear what people think we need. A lot has gone on over this off season and I've almost forgot who we need and what position do we need to strengthen the most. But my thoughts are: I'm think the least we need to be in the top 3 this season are: new CB, preferably who can push to start. An out and out striker A starting wingback to take manny spot.

Hopefully Doyle, with a season in a pro environment, can pull a Krishna and step up to that starting spot.

If we say that the striker has to be an import then who out of NZ and Australia are we looking for to be a CB? Also which of our CB's are we looking to drop to the bench? Sigmund arguably had a better season than Durante last year, but Dunrante obviously has his leadership qualities, and has won the A-League before so knows what it takes.
