Didn't know your mum managed an A -League side.

She managed me and my siblings which some will argue was a lot harder.

Exciting stuff; would be nice to get a hint as to nationality. I'm guessing Dutch.

I'm still guessing Jeffrey Sarpong. His trial was recently terminated with Blackburn. (End of July-ish)

Also followed by Roly on twitter.

...bit of a religious nutter.  Not that there is anything wrong with that but might make him a challenging fit socially.

Yeah, would put a real downer on those late night team bonding sessions. The goat worshipping and sacrificing virgins might have to go on hold if we sign him.

Really not sure why him being religious would be a concern. Pretty ridiculous to say that tbh.

So what? Want me to start listing "non-religious" people who were cocks as well? I offer Pavlovic (just as the first off the top of my head) M'Lord. Defence rests.

I think it's time to get over it.

On a serious note, I could not careless who or what he or any player worships, as long as they fit in with the rest of the squad

Of course, the funny thing is that none(?) of us has any idea whether it is Sarpong anyway.

If it isn't, then Dome et al. (if they are reading this) must be finding it hilarious watching us trawl through Sarpong's wife's twitter profile, whilst James McFadden (or whoever) is packing his bags and finding his passport.

I didn't say being religious is a problem.  Odds say that a number of the squad already are.

My concern is that he seems to err on the side of religious nutterdom, not just religious and from my experience that isn't always a great fit in some environments.

Yeah queitly beleiving in something is different than trying to convert the entire squad, preventing the younger players from going to see 50 shades of grey 2, etc.

This is what happens when they give us no clues.

Anyway, many of the best players to ever play the game were religious nutters.

Short summary:

1. Tyler Boyd was quite religious - thanked god etc. in post match interviews.

2. Theory was Boyd was on the outer for breaching the no dickheads policy, not because of performance on the pitch.

3. Partial evidence to back up rumour re. 2. above was Boyd spotted by forum regular who works at movie theatre heading into a session fo 50 shades of grey while at the same time the Nix were playing an away game he didn't travel for... opinion was if you were invested in the team you'd be watching live.

Twitter profile had a video of his season, looked OK for the minute and a half I could be bothered sitting through. As a fellow religious nutter see here for how it can work (hint it involves wine) (go to 2 minutes)

I think the Nix actually need a hot head like a Berisha to get some of our players out of their comfort zone. All this no dick , touchy feele stuff hasn't actually won us a title has it?

As long as the hot head is a gun then it works. Pav, a hot head but just an average or below average player doesn't work.

In respect of #3, Maybe Ernie had told him to look for advice on getting past the last line of defence, through the back door etc?

Agreed.Who wouldn't take Berisha or similar goal-scoring machine/dickhead?.He probably has trouble meshing in any team he joins (from what I've seen of him during HAL matches) but meh, sign him up right now & lets play some footy

With someone like Berisha , yiu would just have to say "Yes he is a cod,  but he is our cod."

Is Berisha a dickhead off the pitch though? Surely that's the relevant factor.

Fark...leave the guy alone. If he signs and plays well for us good...another wise don't see that breaking out the snigger and moral superiority 'cos of his upbringing/ beliefs is a real fan thing to do...

If he's Roly's mate that's a reasonable reference for me.

Ask him if he'd let his kids watch Harry Potter- if he says yes, let him get on and play his game and score goals for us...assuming he is the chap...

If I'm honest, I'm more concerned about the licence extension than I am about who we're signing. At least signing new players is, more or less, something we've got control over.

Regarding license extension, we are dealing with the FFA. For a clue on their negotiation skills, have a look at how their relationship with the players association is going. #howtowinfriendsandinfluencepeople

We're assured 5 years; though slightly worried this game of brinksmanship will blow up in our face. However, probably the best time to try and push it with Brisbane and co faltering so badly.
