From memory he made like two brief substitute appearances?

From memory he made like two brief substitute appearances?
I remember him playing in the pre-season friendly against YHM in Palmy North. Had genuine pace (at least compared to everyone else on the pitch that day), and a footballer's brain. I thought we'd get to see a bit more from him during the season, but we never did.
It's funny when I read his name, I remembered it, but couldn't picture him in a Nix shirt at all.
So was he contracted to us for a whole season and only played so few minutes??

Pretty classic bizarre Phoenix signing from those days. We had some extremely dodgy agents working for us back then!

It's interesting that he seems to have had a reasonably successful time in the top Venezuelan division since then, and won a few trophies there.

I feel sorry for Ricardo Clarke. Oh well - winners and losers. Not everyone can be a winner.

I'll buy a pair when they have a sale or something. Love the idea, but I don't have $160 to spend on shoes. So they have the runners and the loafers for men and women. Will there be any other types?
Can't remember, read the last couple of articles when they featured in the news....I think they were working on new styles and colors from memory though..
They have two styles, runners and loafers. And I believe there are eight different colours

Vinnie Lia says the Nix never actually told hin he wasn't being re-signed. Poor if true.

To be honest, it does not read well for the club. I hope a lesson was learned. The best send off was for our first Captain. Other than the red card, Ross left on a high note and we all had a chance to cheer him off.
Well, the fan base can at least do something in round one.
It's not really surprising though, rumors were that Greenacre found out about the coaching appointments through the media.
It is poor human-resource management to not be able to front up to people with bad news.
He didn't bugger off before they had a chance did he? I seem to recall, his TV was being advertised and we heard of him at Adelaide etc. This was before the coach came in too wasn't it?

From memory that was after the season had finished and his contract supposedly ran out. So he was a free agent, still living in Wellington and potentially expecting a call to know the club's plans about whether or not they wished to re-sign him.
The new coach wasn't unveiled until June 7th but apparently he was signed well before then and the announcement was delayed until he could secure a visa.
Of course Vinnie could have picked up the phone too, but after 10 years at the club they should have handled the situation much better IMHO.

I'd imagine he was on the phone to the club and getting a straight bat.
Before he started selling things on vicdeals the team had already confirmed Lowry, the club had also said that the new gaffer had looked over all the players and was comfortable with those leaving so they knew that Vinnie was unlikely to be offered an extension.
Pretty poor.
I'm not angry. I'm disappointed.
Football players are people too
Anyway someone find some more pictures of Mateo Rigters looking huge please...
I really was disappointed when we didn't sign him, he really looked like he could make an impact down in Dunners. Once GCU paid him, I guess he just didn't see the need to try anymore. We ended up with Alex Smith instead, so probably about as much impact and a cheaper cost.
I <3 Alex Smith - he was really competent and did a tidy job for us. Was really gutted when we let him go.
On a personal note, I interviewed him after the first Del Piero game (managed to interview the man himself too for SBS Radio) and he was a top bloke!
Not sure if this has been reported already but Alex Smith seems to be playing in the second tier in Malaysia. Always rated him highly, shame he didn't have Aus citizenship back then (he does now) as I think he would have floated around the A-League a lot more if he had.

We definitely got the better deal when we signed Gold Coast signing Smith and Gold Coast signed our trialist Rigters.
Vinnie Lia scored a brace vs MVFC last night. The first one in his career, courtesy of two wonder strikes. Check out the highlights on youtube, it's worth it!
For those that missed them

2nd goal: https://streamable.com/tr64f
So let me get this straight, Vinnie is only allowed to score spectacular goals that we'd all love to score? Vinnie has also equalled the number of goals he scored for us in ten years? I knew we should have put him up front.
The first goal was a beauty as the pass wasn't great, the ball was bouncing and he had to peg the ball with his left foot...the second one was even better, what amazing technique!
Well done Vinnie

Ricki now agrees with Siggie and others that he should have quit the Nix and the AWs while he was ahead, but just has to phrase it in an egocentric manner.
Congrats to Vinni Lia on being named @ALeague Player of the Round! Be at Coopers on Sat night to find out who the next hero will be ? #AUFC pic.twitter.com/dBkKhh6Gdm

I had a horrible dream last night that Siggie came out of retirement to play for WSW. :(
