Tony Sage is NOT a happy chappy:

"It's not only extremely disappointing when you take a player who is at the crossroads in his career with injury, nurse him through at great expense and finally we get him right and then leaves with no thanks or even the decency to tell us. No he just let's the other club announce it. Blindsided.. He said he would wait till our new coach was appointed.. So a liar as well..He would have been our highest paid player but all we got was a 2 fingered salute. That's not a GLORY player.."

THE Roar are in the race to sign Daniel De Silva, with the former teen prodigy in Brisbane on Thursday for talks with the three-time A-League champions.

The Courier-Mail has learnt the 21-year-old playmaker and his father Rod dined with Roar coach John Aloisi at Caxton St restaurant Gambaro’s before being taken on a tour of the club’s Logan training facility and administration base.

Meanwhile, midfielder Ronny Vargas will have surgery on Wednesday to remove a screw from his reconstructed left ankle and flies out for Belgium next Monday.

Griffiths met with the off-contract Vargas on Monday and hopes to sign the Venezuelan marquee to a new deal before he departs.

“Ronny does have other options, but hopefully he feels like he has unfinished business here,” Griffiths said.

“The surgery is routine to remove a screw which he told me was restricting him in terms of power.

“With a three-month pre-season he will be bigger and better.”

Fellow South American attacker Pato Rodriguez, who arrived in January, appears unlikely to be offered a new contract.
