oh OK Andrew is better at counting than me...........
I'd pick Rapa, Waterside, Palmy Marist & Wellington United to go through in central \ capital region
Hmmm I reckon the Toon will be hard to beat at home - especially after this rain!
Went down to watch TKU vs FHM on Monday. Good game for the first 2 halves, FHM looked dominant but TKU went 2-0 up early in the second half. Missed a few chances to put the game away and FHM ended up equalising near 90 minutes - then went completely bonkers in extra time and put a further 4 goals away.
Some great players in the Three Kings setup but the team is weak. Goalkeeper can make some great saves but was caught out of position twice - bit slow to get back to her mark
Kate Sheppard Cup games this weekend, here's a preview
Saturday 15 June
Waterside Karori v Wellington United Karori Park 2pm
Have met twice in KS Cup before, Waterside won 2-1 in 2014, Wellington United won 7-0 last season
both teams won 4 and lost 2 in the league this season, which for Waterside, new to W-League this season is great, while Diamonds are defending champions and won't be as happy with their form. Although they have two returnees in Briar Palmer and Mickey Robertson who could be key in helping decide this
MY PICK Wellington United
Wairarapa United v Western Suburbs Masterton Memorial KO 5:30pm
2 times runners up in the cup, Wairarapa take on cup debutants Western Suburbs
Suburbs beat Palmy Marist in the last round and having Maya Hahn back at the moment makes a difference. Wairarapa always a tough side though
MY PICK either aet
Wellington United beat Waterside Karori 4-2
Good game, United took early lead through Dani Ohlsson, Karori got on back after 20 or so minutes and then really came back into the game
Sarah Alder restored the lead with a penalty in the second half but not long after it was all square when Roni Lipi punched the ball into her own net from a Waterside Karori corner
But then goal of the game Jemma Robertson met a Briar Palmer cross and headed in, she then got another but I missed that one
Waimakariri 2 (Jayda Stewart 2) Coastal Spirit 4 (Britneylee Nicholson 2, Lily Bray, Mel Cameron) HT 0 - 3
Quarter Final draw
This weekends games
Wellington United v Wairarapa United, Newtown Park, Saturday 6th July KO 1pm
3rd (Wellington United) v 1st (Wairarapa United) in W-League
Wellington United's best run in the cup was last season when they got to the semi finals
Wairarapa United have twice been runners up in 1999 & 2000
This game is a repeat of last season's quarter final where Wellington United beat Wairarapa United 3-1
MY PICK Wellington United (as if I'd pick anything other than that!)
Dunedin Technical v Coastal Spirit
Dunedin Technical (1st in Football South) v Coastal Spirit (1st in MPL)
Defending Champions Dunedin Technical against 2013 champions Coastal Spirit
will be the 6th meeting of the 2 teams in the cup, Coastal Spirit have won 3, but the last 2 games were both won by Tech
MY PICK Dunedin Technical
Forest Hill-Milford United v Eastern Suburbs
FHMU, 4th in NRFL, Eastern Suburbs 1st in NRFL
FHMU won the cup in 2016, Eastern Suburbs, perhaps surprisingly have never won it yet, runners up in 2005 & 17
Never met each other in the cup
MY PICK Eastern Suburbs
Hamilton Wanderers v Western Springs
Wanderers 3rd in NRLF, Western Springs 7th in NRFL
met in round 2 of the cup last season Wanderers won 2-0
MY PICK Wanderers
Dunedin Technical 1 1 Coastal Spirit - Coastal win on penalties
Games to be played on August 24/25
Is there any video footage floating around of the Hamilton goal from the semi against Suburbs?

Is that the one they scored after the other team was still celebrating? I'd love to see that too!

thats the one. Unfortunately it is probably the type of goal a camera operator would switch off for too.
footage does exist.

All celebrating players left the field of play?
So, terrible quality but there is so much wrong here. Can't tell for sure that the Suburbs players are on the field or not but what is clear is they are back in their own half and if they are on the field, there is enough players on that the restart can be taken. Next the referee doesn't appear to be in position for the restart and then latest, I'm pretty sure the Hamilton player kicked off the ball to themselves. Either way, in such an important game, really the referee should have called it back but in the end it didn't matter, Suburbs still won in Extra Time.
Man that is shocking, you could almost book the referee for unsportsmanlike conduct. I suspect it will be a long time before they referee at that level again, shocking judgement.

is it though? that vid doesn't show where the Eastern Suburbs players were, but from all reports I've heard they were all back in their own half.
It was the 89th minute so was it sportsmanlike for the Eastern Suburbs team to celebrate like they have won and stop Wanderers of having a chance of equalising (or winning)?
Lets just say that the best solution is to manage the situation by adding time on, and by using cautions to the team if they are delaying restarting play. Blowing for the player kicking off "receiving" the ball from themself might also being a good strategy.

Why do we schedule the premier football final the same weekend as national tours elsewhere?

Both sides have player(s) away on international duty so hopefully evens out. Our Cup finals have always been scheduled in early September so always going to be an issue.

aye but it falls in Eastern Suburbs favour, they only have one at the U20s in Cook Islands. Coastal have one there also but another 2 away in China with the Futsal Ferns and also will be missing the one that got sent off in the semi final

Just Britneylee Nicholson from Coastal away with the Futsal Ferns

Its a very good question and considering it affects women's football a lot more than the men's I reckon they should start looking at separating out the finals. There are only a handful of people that go to both games in the present set up, the double header is only worth doing if you get a mens and womens team from the same club
There are less entries in the women;s comp and they miss a round so instead of doing that move the games forward and play the KS Cup at a smaller venue, say Kiwitea Street if its in Auckland, or move it around the country, promote it a lot more and give it its own standing it is at a pont that it deserves it (probably has been for a while)

although this years final is not too badly affected, a change in date would also avoid tired players having just spent a week at school tournaments.
4-0 to ES with just a couple of minutes to go.
Very one sided final although bit dubious about Suburbs second gaol - looked offside but I was a long way away. Lot lower quality game compared to last year.

this years was also possibly affected by under 20 squad on international duty as well as futsal ferns. Agree that Nzf should consider separate dates for the finals.
With the offside call, the real-time footage shows the right back keeping the player onside, but in the replay they used a different camera which had a narrower field of view and didn't show the right back, hence the commentators error.
With the dates, the other quirky thing was having 7 weeks between QF and SF which in the Northern eight team league meant that the same games from Round 14 and 21 were postponed 7 weeks apart. Thus Two Suburbs v Hamilton games were postponed and never ended up being played and being entered as 0-0 draws which I don't think should be allowed to happen.
Also a good week for the Suburbs girls schools at tournament week, both Baradene and Glendowie winning their respective tournaments, so they (and Ellerslie) must be doing something right on the eastern side of the motorway.
