20/21 Season - Wellingong Phoenix

Nix (currently +9 GD) highly likely to finish with the 3rd-4th best GD over the regular season. Significantly better than the 3 teams currently immediately above them in Adelaide (-2 GD), Macathur (+0) & CCM (+2).

Based on what I saw over the last 10 games we are without doubt better than CCM, Adelaide and Macarthur, so missing out by one point is cruel.

That said it's been a really brilliant and entertaining ride since that damaging 1-0 loss to Mac when I thought our season was done. At that point if you'd told me we would be in the hunt almost to the last round and get 46,000 people to our two home games I would've been delighted.

So we finished with the third best goal difference, third equal best goals scored; and converting two draws into wins would have got us in third place.

We had a very good shot this year. Designated players is guna make things even more tricky for us. Guess that’s why we watch though.
