What are your guys' favourite bands from NZ? SIX60 and L.A.B. have made some good songs but I also like some classic bands such as The Feelers and Crowded House.
The Flying Nun bands from the (mainly) 80s to early 90s - The Clean were, at one time, the most important band in the world. A shame it came around long after they broke up. The Chills, Bailter Space, Headless Chickens, JPSE, Bressa Creeting Cake, 3Ds...... Find the "Topless Women Talk About Their Lives" soundtrack for an overview.

The Scarfies soundtrack also. Was my main car tape for a fair while. Had some crazy good memories with The Bats songs. And The Brunettes. The Exponents, Goodshirt and Pluto all did and still do happy summer pop rock times. As do GoldenHorse.
Freakn Trinity Roots I saw do some free concert in the park somewhere which made me feel like I was watching Hendrix. Amazing show. Even enjoyed a bit of the old EyeTV and Garageland. Oh and the Relaxomatic Project! Saw great gig of theirs at a venue that is no more.
I guess mostly I’ve put bands that I’ve seen or might have seen live…I’m sure there are some others I’ve overlooked. Shihad are a great band, who I never was quite in the right place to see live. There’s a lot I kind of missed around the time of The Datsuns, the Mint Chicks etc right through to Six60 where I was aware of them but just don’t know their songs.
Wow, Sommerset what a blast from the past. Used to regularly see them and other bands like Kitsch, Muckhole, Foamy Ed. Have to go digging in the box of CDs in the garage for those gems.
Other good bands are Die! Die! Die! and the Skeptics.

What do you mean dig in a box in the garage? Are these masterpieces not proudly displayed, as a indication of your superior taste in music, in your living room?
Seriously, I have like a few hundred CDs 95% punk which was nicely sorted until we got kids. (my wife and I both like the same music and spent too much money on albums when we were younger)

Yeah, I'm the same. Hundreds and hundreds of CDs. Now replaced by spotify and a few vinyls. The trick, if I do go out and hunt for those CDs, will be to figure out how to play them. I guess the playstation can play CDs.
Not quite as active as they used to be, but always had a soft spot for The Eastern. Some of the most ruckus live sets I've ever seen by any NZ band. Adam McGrath is a beastly songwriter and great storyteller to boot. I somehow managed to come into posession of a split 7" they did with Beastwars that has Beastwars covering their song "State Houses by the River" and it's my most cherished piece of NZ music memrobilia.
Hey guys, I know this is completely out of nowhere but does anyone know the name of the song playing in the background of this video? The video itself is highlights from a Football Kingz FC game in their first season. I have heard it before but I do not know if it is from a NZ band. Also the presenter speaking over the top of it is making it hard for me to understand any of the lyrics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUC1oJZuJh4&list=PLRwEXY7QJ2FqSDj_T119oj5lW8dbwSL7K&index=25&ab_channel=FootballKingz

The video was made, and narrated, by Sa'id Milton - ask Milts on the "Bloc 5: Those Were The Days" discussion.

Nah, they had an album in the 80s. Good And Ready.
That's the one I have. Bought after seeing them at the Taita Hotel.
Taita Hotel. That was a long long time ago. I went by the site of the hotel yesterday....long gone.
For a while it became the Samoan Community church, then a mainstream church, then an empty plot and now what it is. I went to the Taita way back in 1985.
