for  me folks , it is vital to get a new match in november against any euro minnows or any other team,   then   get a new coach with good cv,  get this squad together,  and games and games and games

then you have to bring 5 new faces every year to have a good depth    check those double nationality players and convince them asap
bring back  thomas and singh , get those players who are playing semi profesional,  have a local team and an overseas team and play and play and play

at least you are gonna be in the next wc finals  now how are u gonna do it
arrange matches with teams that you could beat to increase your fifa rankings

you have like 20 teams nz could get a win at least

yes any European team in November would be good as they will be free

Whilst a game(s) in November would be great, and is disappointing it appears AWs won't play again until March next year - is a very small window of opportunity in Nov. Is literally only a week between Euro leagues going into hiatus and the World Cup starting.

Also seems that Euro clubs actually don't have to release their players during Nov/Dec, for national teams not going to Qatar. Newcastle you imagine for example will head to a training camp in Saudi Arabia, to appease their big money sponsors.

Tunisia could have been keen for an AWs friendly verus psuedo Socceroos (Australia is a winnable Group game for them) - but think I read somewhere they already have a warmup game booked prior WC.

Anyway Pragnell has made it clear AWs won't play again until March next year, but is then making lots of promises about AWs playing every window thereafter, including some games in NZ. That won't be easy at all, so he's putting his head a little on the chopping block making those sorts of predictions.

oh well from march next year that is still 6 windows until the 2024 OFC nations cup

I've always been a big proponent of having a locally, even just National League, based team, and then can have them play at home against the OFC teams. The OFC teams would jump at the chance to face higher level opposition, and you could play the games at any time without needing an international window. The NZ players would also get a higher level of opposition, and chance to show if they're of the level for a first choice team. It obviously wouldn't get 35k crowds, but there wouldn't be much cost either; they hold youth camps all the time. Even then, the OFC matches last cycle got 10k crowds. Could easily schedule three or more games around the country, so places like Dunedin/Christchurch get a game instead of the Auckland/Wellington duopoly.

I don't understand why it's unpopular, you can't be starving yet demand only five star dining. It wouldn't diminish the shirt, especially given that single caps have gone out to 'foreign' players with spurious eligibility over the years.

He's banking on WC money. With qualification almost a given, NZF will use that money to fund games.
Even if we somehow managed not to qualify directly, there is a good opportunity to make $ from subsequent play off games.
That with the fact NZF is doing ok financially as it is probably gives him the confidence to make such statements.

Yes OFC gets 1.5 spots at Word Cup 2026.
But that 0.5 spot (so team finishing 2nd in OFC) will enter a playoff tournament somewhere in the World (North America?) with 5 other teams.

Similar I guess to how NZ (Hamilton?) is going host a pre WWC qualifying tourney to decide final few teams next year.

So 2 legged Playoffs with a game at home are dead & buried. So has ended big match, high stakes, meaningful games in NZ for the AWs.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_FIFA_World_Cup

It includes an intercontinental playoff tournament involving six teams to decide the last two FIFA World Cup spots, making it a 1⁄3 spot in finals for a place in intercontinental play-offs.[26] But in fact, the 2 high-ranked teams have each 1⁄2 spot and the other 4 teams only have each 1⁄4 spot.

Who are these double nationalities you speak of... it's not like they are dozens out there already.

Fans need to be more realistic.
Jack Iredale, Matt Dibley-Dias (U20), Lee Ho-Jae (U23), Till Estermann (U20, Swiss 4th tier), David Yoo (U23, Portuguese 4th tier), Jack van Luijken (U20), Aarun Lim (U20), Oscar Obel-Hall (U20), Lionel von Zitzewitz, Tyler Bindon (U20).

That’s all I know/could find easily, there’s probably a few floating about but yeah not heaps of quality/players ready to be called up.

Iredale (Bolton Wanderers) is a 26 year old  Scot/Aussie/Kiwi LB. He could slot straight into the All Whites (would need some balancing with Libby tho).

Dibley-Dias (Fulham U21) is an 18 years old English/Brazilian/Portuguese/Kiwi CM. He has been contacted and is a good shout for the future.

Lee (Pohang Steelers) is a 21 year old Korean/Kiwi CF. He looks like an excellent prospect  and although he’s in the South Korean youth system, honestly wouldn’t be far off Waineo and Greive in the pecking order. He’s also 6’3 so would offer a more Wood-like skill set, really hope we can nab him from Korea.

Estermann (Xamax FCS U21) looks like he could be a good option for the future. He’s a 19 year old Swiss/Kiwi CB, plays for the U21 team of Xamax FCS. U21s play mens 4th tier but the senior team play 2nd tier. Could be one to watch considering our CB stocks.

Similar story with van Luijken (Unattached FC), 19 year old Dutch/Kiwi CB and a big unit too at 6’5. Recently released by the Go Ahead Eagles U21s, could also be an option for the future if he can find a club and kick on.

Don’t know anything about David Yoo (Leça FC) other than he’s a 22 year old Korean/Kiwi who plays in the Potuguese 4th tier.

Aarun Lim (Boeung Ket) is a 19 year old DM in the Cambodian 1st tier (plays for Cambodia U23 national team).

Oscar Obel-Hall (Esbjerg fB U19) is an 18 year old Dutch/Kiwi forward playing for Esbjerg fB U19. Same youth league Stamenic started in when he moved.

von Zitzewitz (HEBC Hamburg) is a 23 year old German/Kiwi RB in the German 5th tier. Could be a very good option if he works his way up to the 2nd or 3rd tier.

Bindon (LAFC Academy) is a 17 year old American/Kiwi CB at the LAFC Academy.

Most of those players are very young and only one (Iredale) would be ready to step into the All Whites straight away. Some could be really good prospects for the future provided they kick on and could do with being capped (especially at youth level ala Jay Herdman). There’s a big list over on Young Kiwis Outside the UK which includes a lot of those players but it’s not just dual nationals.

This would be great. Especially with olympics coming up in 18 months. Would be a good opportunity to give some U23 local players exposure too.
