1-0 aganst a strong WU not bad, would have been happier with a 0-0 result, conceding the goal from a set piece is annoying - even moreso when its the first time the ref as pulled up a foul - albeit it soft!
Decent performance from the girls today. Shut WU down for the most part. Much more competitive defensively and in mids than I expected. Unfortunately we lack cutting edge and quality going forward. So one goal is enough to down us at the moment most of the time.
Was always going to be a tough game away to league leaders, so all-in-all, an acceptable showing.
There have been a few studies at a grassroots level that women have different values with football (focus more on the fun aspect than winning), than men.
Stands to reason I guess those values, differ all the way up to the pro level.
Take Abbey Erceg & Rosie White (though White's decision might be as much longterm injury/illness related) retiring just prior to a once in a lifetime home World Cup. I imagine Winnie Reid & whoever, would never ever have done that. The genders just often have different values.

Today was a very competitive showing, as in they competed really well and aggressively. Seemed to be a change to 442 formation. Pritchard works ever so hard running around the pitch and show’s direction well and sets up the press, but her stats today would be pretty tough to read, lost possession and mostly give aways from passes, really needs to be better when we get so few chances. We set up well to defend when their defence had the ball.
Knott and Wisnewski won lots of turnovers. I think the energy and enthusiasm of Robertson and Clegg is infectious.
I’m on the fence with Rolston she didn’t do much today, no shots and just one key pass early on to Robertson.
Defensively we were more comfortable today. I think largely because of how hard the mids and forwards were working to win the ball and make it hard to play through us.
Barry is normally overworked but was not as busy today. Edwards made some great saves and mixed it up well today, going long on occasion- although I reckon she had the ball in her hands for about 12 seconds before kicking it long in the second half? Isn’t it 6 seconds the rule?
And if we need a goal with 10 minutes remaining maybe move Foster forward? McMeeking isn’t a goal scorer yet.
Was interesting to hear how much coaching the male coach was doing during the game, seemed to be giving more instructions than Natalie, but maybe that’s just their respective personalities?
Anyway a great performance that if we had more of these earlier in the season we might have more points.
I hope they continue to utilise Greenacre for specialist forwards sessions and build up play. They need more shooting practice, not working the goal keeper enough.
Positive to see the majority of players are in a good amount of form now. Will be actual competition for places when everyone is fit and in form.
If everyone is healthy we should be able to beat most teams on our day if we play with the intensity they did today.
Alfeld VanDeMeer Barry Taylor Foster Gomez Hassett Satchel Whinham Robertson Clegg -Rolston, Knott, Wisnewski, Vosper & Edwards - Would be a strong bench.
I reckon that squad would have won today’s game, or at least taken points.
