Sadly both their sides lost - Brighton beaten by Man United 3-2 with an 89th minute winner (Rebecca Stott on the bench and not featuring):
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/65274085
and in the other, Anna Leat rode the pine as reserve keeper for Aston Villa as they also went down narrowly, 1-0 to Chelsea.
Sam Kerr, the Matildas striker getting the goal on 59 minutes.
Cool to see Football Ferns involved with clubs at the highest level of the women's game, even if only on the bench this time.
The English women's league has really taken off in recent years and is up there with the German, Spanish, French and US leagues now.
Quarters were same 2 English clubs, 1 Spanish, 1 Italian (Roma), 2 French (Lyon & PSG) & 2 German clubs (Bayern knocked out).

Great news - a very good defender affected by injuries the past year.
It'll be easier to see a lot more of the Ferns playing in England now
that all major English women's football comps will be screened by TVNZ - looking forward to that because of all the Ferns in the Super League (Spurs, Villa, Leicester, Brighton) and FA Cup (Grace Neville at London City Lionesses etc.)
Stott and Leats' sides were in the semis of the Women's FA Cup this year.
77,000 at the final at Wembley.
"Women's Football coming on TVNZ:
A former Canterbury player, more recently based in Oz.
Bercelli went on to appear regularly for Sampdoria u-19 and helped them win the national u-19 title
Good enough to play in the Frau Bundesliga and score a goal there. Bad knee injury wasn't it? Hopefully she can resurrect her career. Klimkova bought her to NZ for those USA friendlies back in January, with a weakened Ferns but she couldn't even get a game then, so seems well out of the picture at the moment.
Turkey with 70M people another potential sleeping giant in the Women's game. Still a pretty liberal Muslim country, even with hardline Erdoğan in power all these years. Looks like it's got a fully professional women's league. Just another country that could overtake NZ if it gets it's act together.
From Flying Kiwis.
That’s right, we’ve got a fresh entry to the Flying Kiwis club with 18 year old Olivia Page joining Sheffield United after a successful trial period, having previously played for Eastern Suburbs back in Aotearoa. Usually a wide midfielder or fullback, Page was part of the U17 World Cup squad last year where she featured in all three group games plus she made 11 National League appearances for the championship Eastern Suburbs team (scoring 1 goal with 1 assist). That includes logging ninety in the grand final. She’s tall and powerful, an impressive athlete. All of which should bode well at Sheffield United.

That's interesting. Hannah Blake was there last season, scored a bunch of goals for them. Wonder if she's is staying on as well.

Edit.
Everyone is pretty quick to fizz over Milly Clegg because she scored a few age group world cup goals. But have short memories because thats what Hannah Blake was doing just a few years earlier. She then went into the US college system, so has basically been off the radar for the last 3 or 4 years playing youth football.
I expect she will do well at Adelaide.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see her back in the A League. Most likely for one of the Melbourne teams.

Kiwi's in the goals again this week.
Ava Pritchard with a goal for Uni and
Charlotte Lancaster with some good end of season form scoring a brace. One of which was a trademark left footer from the sideline. See at 1.27 and the second at 2.26 of the highlights.

Earning her a spot in team of the week.
Melbourne Victory can confirm that Claudia Bunge will depart the Club prior to the 2023/24 @aleaguewomen season to take up an international opportunity.

Well deserved. 👏👏👏
Thought she was one of our better players at the WWC.
God damn there's a lot of Kiwi's picking up deals at the moment. 👌

Good on her. Just surprising to see her at such a big club, given how her career has tracked of late.
See BM won last season's Frauen Bundesliga by 2 points.

So thinking about what free agents are still left from world cup squad.
Katie Bowen. Investigating options in Europe apparently. Good enough for the WSL I reckon. Be interesting to see where she lands.
Annalie Longo. Needs to find a club really if she wants to go to one more Olympics with this team. Hopefully signs with the Nix. She worked so hard to get back ready for the WWC would be a real shame if she retired now.
Olivia Chance. Departed Celtic. Rumoured to go to Mel Victory. Also rumoured she might be having some kind of knee surgery on injury she got playing for FF's.
Hannah Wilkinson. Nothing announced yet. Will she do another season with Mel City. Good chance of it you would think.
Other ex Nix ALW players currently free agents. How many of these will get overseas/aussie deals
Kelli Brown. Equal top goals scorer in NPL NSW. Surely get picked up in the A league.
Charlotte Lancsaster. Strong finish to NPL NSW. Scoring goals, making teams of the week and even plays of the week. Another you would think makes an A league squad.
Ava Pritchard. Regular starter in NPL NSW. Has got on the score sheet a few times for a team in the bottom half of the comp.
Mona Walker. Regular starter at NPL NSW level. Her team is battling for a playoff spot.
Lily Alfeld. Still battling with recovery from injury. Nix have been giving her time, but season is fast approaching.
Emma Rolston. Released by the Phoenix. After injury and suspension plagued season. ???
Saskia Vosper. Released by the Phoenix. Not playing domestically in NZ as far as I know.
Georgia Candy: ?
Good on her. Just surprising to see her at such a big club, given how her career has tracked of late.

A very unusal situation this week (Considering our current lack of goal scoring pedigree)
Two Kiwi #9's. facing off in a top NSW comp. All kiwi goals in this one also .
Kelli Brown with a brace as Rams 2. Beat Sydney Uni 1. Ava Pritchard with the goal for Uni.
But two goals by Brown wasn't quite enough for her to win the golden boot. Joint top goal scorer going into this last regular season game. She was piped by Ashlie Crofts who scored a hat trick for her club APIA Leichhardt.
Still 23 goals in the NPL NSW league for Brown is a huge achievement.
Charlotte Lanchaster finished with 6 goals and
Ava Pritchard with 5 goals for the season.
Onto the semi finals now for Brown as Mcarthur Rams finished 2nd.
And Charlotte Lancaster's Bulls FC finished 4th to get the final semi spot for the playoffs..
In NPL NSW semi final action last night. Charlotte Lancaster's Bulls FC team beat table topping APIA Leichhardt 2-1 to progress through to the final.
And both Bulls goals scored by Lancaster.
She has really done well with consistent playing time at a decent level. Hope she can get an A league gig somewhere to continue her progress/development. Still a very young player with a very handy left foot.
Highlights.
