Maybe worth considering the assistant coach dropping down to take the academy and the still vacant manager and physio roles?

Which is down to massive belt tightening in the league? Or is there something else?

We’re looking at a situation with less than no money to spend, a part time pro-league that was just finding its feet again and new unparalleled competition from overseas. 

Any player discontent is just an added bonus, but I’d suggest a lot of that stems from the club not being in the situation with the factors mentioned to guarantee a full time pay check for a year. 

So 🤷‍♂️shoganai as they say here surely? Do what we can, rather than stress about what we can’t?

Indeed!  I wonder if the goal, and her overall performance, mean overseas clubs might make an offer for her.  Another off-season sale for the Phoenix?

I found Olivia Fergusson is following the Phoenix on twitter so that's good enough for me.

She's a 29 year old English Forward for Wolverhampton Wanderers

A great signing, by the looks of it, fans of her previous clubs seem to really love her - and the experience she will hopefully bring could be invaluable for our younger academy graduates

Niche Cache. Might be some names on this free agent list the Nix target. Expect an announcement soon on Longo, but Foster could be looking at overseas options.

Remaining ALW free agents from last season’s crew: Hannah Wilkinson, Deven Jackson, Ruby Nathan, Grace Jale, Michaela Foster, Michaela Robertson, Kelli Brown, Liz Anton, Annalie Longo, Georgia Candy.

Couple big names still on that list. The Phoenix have said they’ll announce a few re-signings soon but time will tell what happens with the rest of them. 

Could easily be a couple more Flying Kiwis additions from that lot, joining Kate Taylor (Dijon FCO), Grace Wisnewski (Lexington SC), Hannah Blake (Durham), and of course Milly Clegg (Racing Louisville) and Macey Fraser (Utah Royals) to have moved on already in the past few months.

Interesting! If she signs along with Longo and the English girl we will go from one of the youngest teams to one of the oldest (average age)

Beautiful part of the world Mapua. I expect it produces more kayakers than footballers. Abel Tasman one of my top 5 favourite locales in Aotearoa.

Why would a coach allow the score to get so high. Pointless for both sides. Plenty of restrictions you can place on your team if you are smashing them by that much so the score doesn’t blow out.

Hope we can use her in the correct way - her spells at Canberra and Glory haven't exactly been successful and there's certainly some flaws in her game. I'm unconvinced by this signing but hopefully she can be a success in more familiar surroundings.

I think this is an excellent signing. Jale brings lots of great attributes to this team.
Bring on more Kiwi signings. Wouldn't mind seeing Foster or Anton for defensive stocks. Cleverley, Longo and Errington to bolster the midfield. Plus one or two more imports.

That ain't Nathan. Zero goals in her first ALW season with Canberra from 21 games.
Michelle Heyman would be handy.

But imagine Temple is happy enough so far with Jale and English recruit Olivia Fergusson. Main & Robertson got 8 goals between them last season.

You'd imagine Longo, will sign with the Nix or retire. She has a role with NZF, is a mum and now 33. Her partner Alana Gunn coaches the NZ U17s. 
Wasn't Longo named in the Olympics squad with Phoenix as her club?

Foster could be looking at Europe. She's good enough.

Errington hugely promising, and has already had a short stint in Portugal. Who knows. Shining in the Victorian NPL. Be a shame if she didn't have at least one full season with the Nix in the ALW, as she's come through the Weenix Academy?? Because she's been playing in Melbourne, and now away with the NZ U20s maybe it's just been tricky to get a contract finalised.

Hard to see Robertson leaving the ALW
