You sometimes have to wonder why these signings can take so
long. I mean, the Brazilians I can understand to a certain extent,
but Smelltz and Brockie were/are both unattached. Maybe it's about
delaying the announcements to keep them in the news. If that's the
case then fair enough.

Its about mixing the foreigners in with the kiwis so they are announced in bulks where kiwi representation is about 50% to keep anyone from moaning.
Smeltz has had offers from League One+Two sides I understand, and they are able to offer more than we are so that could slow things down.
