Opening Newtown Park Training
Well todays the Phoenix trained for an hour with young kids at
Newtown Park then had a full pitch game including a few other
wellington players. The 3 new brazilians were all there and
lookedpretty good. The centre back is huge, but it will be
interesting to see how he deals with someone that has pace caz he
doesnt look too fast. The striker is very small but had good pace
and shoots whenever he can. However the better player of these is
the centre midfielder hes class. Acts as a playmaker and has heeps
of skill. He went on a run today and dribbled through 4 players
then got taken out. But he does moan a bit when someone fuks up. I
left at half time and cortes jst scored a ripper apparently which i
missed but everyone said 30 yards out top corner. Players that
played well were: Cortes no doubt, Aloisi, the centre midfield
brazilian but forgot his name and lochead played well. Coveny was
average. Also does neone know if the preseason cup game next week

The squad looks great. Felipe (midfield) looks the business - skillful and not afraid to shoot. George likewise (though I did not see much of him). And Cleberson seems to have all the attributes of a good stopper (I didn't notice he was slow Pavlos - you sure?).
The game was pretty competitive - with the guys firing up when
there were dodgy calls etc. I guess there are starting spots on the
line. The lads who were injured where not looking so happy - they
might have their work cut out for them to battle into the
eleven.

filepe was good looks like the midfield should be strong not to
sure about christie tho cleberson looks good aswell mabey the new
victory with all the brazilians
Except hopefully more than one of our Brazilians will be decent
though.

ye he is a unit. Felipes awesome. Ye great videos ay, did he say
that brown is captain or was he talking about the nz team? Surely
Aloisi is an obvious captain shown by his leadership! Team looks
really good and cant wait till they start to play!!
The team looks to be taking shape again which is superb!!!
Cleberson will be a dominant marker and looks to play out
which is superb!!!
Needs a gud partner next to him maybe Stevie ODor.
But how gud are Felipe and Daniel???

what was also positive , from yesterday, was the way some of the
young guys playing against the Phoenix performed.

Like i said these 2 players will be very important this year.
Felipe is much smaller then daniel so i think he might play jst
behind the strikers, itl be interesting to see if he strong enough
in mid but ye and daniel i think will play outwide no
doubt!

yea that sounds ok but think they will just play a 4-4-2 im
guessing but a bit early to be saying who should be in and who
shouldnt
They might play a 3 5 2 system with cortes left wing back. But dno. I like that team i put up i thnk its awesome.
man filipe is class only wants the ball feet hates long ball the
way it should be!

yea should be intresting to see what he does with brown vice
captain and kiwi but filipe is better
I have no idea why brown is vice. To tell u the truth i really dont
think he should start in our fullstrength squad!

see what lia has to offer
I want to see how Lia does as well. I know he was average at the
Victory but I have a feeling he could do well at the Phoenix.

went to the pre season warm up at newtown park. As with other posts
i agree the phoenix showed some good potential. The biggest worry
for me was the left wing, At one stage there i thought Ricky would
need to go to the police station to report a missing person. The
left wing forward spent most off the first half chasing the ball
around the pitch, so when the opportunity arose for the mid
fielders to feed the ball out wide he struggled with the pace and
wasn't able to get on to some good ball. A good sign of a manager
who seems to have the respect of his players though, not sure what
Ricky said at half time but he clearly spotted the weaknes on the
left wing as the second half showed great improvement with some
brilliant croosses in from that wing leading to some great
opportunities. The team appears to be gelling well and there looks
to be plenty off promise. Also great to see a reasonable turn out,
this as got to give the guys a good boost. And it was great to see
Terry Seripisos there showing that he as real commitment to this
team. GO THE PHOENIX
