JOHN Kosmina has been axed as Sydney FC coach today following the A-League club's worst season on record.

Club CEO Stefan Kamasz said this afternoon: Sydney and John have mutually agreed to terminate the coachs contract effective immediately.

There will be an announcement on the 2009-2010 coach in the coming week.

Deserved in my opinion. There are a lot of people who say Kosmina's good for the profile of the league because he's a larger than life personality, blah blah, but really he is a walking public relations disaster.

The puerile crap he's spouted this year has reflected very badly on the Sydney club. You can't tell me that this doesn't affect club and therefore team morale, whatever his abilities are as an actual football coach. I'm not saying that all coaches should be paragons of calmness and maturity but they should realise that they are the public face of their clubs and behave accordingly.

Good riddance.  A completely objectionable man who acted like a four year old more often than not.

Summed up well.

Kosmina is a PR man like StopOut said but unfortunately for Kosmina, Bleiberg does it better and is actually liked if nothing else...

It was only a matter of time.

I wonder if John Aloisi will now contemplate sticking around with a new coach. Could be a new lease on life..

Didn't see that coming

Maybe he should have resigned a week ago to save face.

FourFourTwo columnist and Fox Sports commentator Simon Hill has suggested that former Zenit coach Vlastimil Petrzela is the likely new boy while former Sunderland manager Roy Keane is another name that has been thrown into the mix.

What a shame! I'm so saddened by this news ... NOT!!

Good move by Sydney ... but Roy Keane to replace him? Puh-leez!! His track record's worse than that of Kosmina, spesh in terms of bottling it under pressure and proving himself not up to the task.

What Sydney want to do is recruit someone who can take the youngsters they have bubbling under on to another level, blend them in with a few older heads, and entrust this individual with the job for at least two seasons.

The near-constant chopping and changing at the helm each season has been a significant factor in their under-performance - if they're going to many any progress, they need some stability first and foremost, rather than this bizarre / pathetic concept of throwing money at the problem in the obscure hope that that will solve it.

Cheers,

JR, I think bottling it under the pressure in the EPL is far easier to do than in the 'pressure'of the HAL. In terms of really learning his trade, a move like that could be good from Roy Keane's point of view, but I doubt it is that serious a suggestion.

though as someone said about Mark Phillopousis you could judge his maturity by the number of coaches he had churned through...doesn't say much for Sydney- compared to Melbourne who still have the same gaffer as they've always had I believe?
