According to one Hard News on the Cove forum the attendance at this rugby game was 1200. Any comments News? http://www.sfcu.com.au/smf/index.php?topic=2989.105

1200 was the number quoted to me yesterday.

I would be interested if anyone could confirm what that number actually was.

O.K. News, legbreak implies it was 12 000. Find that hard to believe.

Im sorry but is one of NZ's national sports - whether you like it or not. The football still should've been showed, though. Not even a mention..

The Lions site has no crowd numbers.  I'll see if I can find it anywhere else.

Funny that, they actually did report our 2-0 loss to the Mariners but nothing was even mentioned about our trouncing of Sydney 3-0.

Heh, apparently Mark Paston made his debut for the Phoenix yesterday unbeknownst to all of us. At least according to SMH.

This is symptomatic of what is going on at the moment, you dn't have to be a conspiracy theorist to conclude that these w***ers are out to discredit football.

I think that the free to air channels should show the games live so that the viewer ratings can be increase and possibly a bigger turn out at the games.

This will so those aucks how things are done

TVNZ must have it in for football, check out this clip http://tvnz.co.nz/view/video_popup_windows_skin/1234660  first line "NZ football has another spat on its hands", they mix up the names of interveiwees, and they continue to use the old nix logo. A bunch of bell ends they are! Rocky2007-07-23 17:31:23

I sat next to Blair Newton in the ground (TV1 Sports reporter) - he's a fan, even if TVNZ decided not to cover it.

Bear in mind it is only a pre-season friendly in all reality - the win was great, but means b**ger all come the start of the real season next month.

Prime news at 5:30 on sunday mentioned the game, but they said the phoenix won 5-0
This coverage is better than none but todays Dom post was excellant, and even had the interview with smeltz.

To bhe honest, I reckon the big screen should be kept off. Just end up with everyone waving at TV cameras for the whole game. . . . i.e. take the Eden Park game on Saturday night. Every time there was a lineout all the spectators (delibertaley avioding use of the word "fans") were jumping up and down, waving their arms in the air to be on TV, when there was a lineout happening RIGHT in frontt of them . . .  crazy

I like it when people see themselves on the big screen, so they wave at the screen. Idiots.
