The best thing about the atmosphere was that it was allowed to generate. No music played during the game itself allows chants to grow & spread - thats why US sports grounds are like morgues whilst English footy grounds have real atmosphere.

Normally all NZ sports ground announcers tend to play some sh1te music whenever there's so muchg as a 10 second gap in play. Fans CAN entertain themselves (as we saw yesterday) & generate their own atmosphere.

(Rant over).

 i agree totally

I think a lot of credit has to go to the stewrds and general stewarding policy, evidently they were well briefed and knew that a football crowd would be quite different from a rugby crowd.
We were allowed to stand the whole game and sing some quite bawdy songs, without being told to sit down and shut up once.
Two thumbs up to the stewards and hopefully we'll enjoy a similar laissez-faire approach when it comes to the Melbourne game, although with a bigger crowd and allocated seating - that might be wishful thinking.

I agree - lets hope it continues! (and maybe we shouldn't give the stewards so much grief next time..nah)

Me and my mates were going to start up a mexican wave, but we were sort of in the middle of the crowd, so would of been fairly pointless lol as it could only really go so far!

So lads, just so we can all keep up:

1. No Mexican Waves - MonkeyBoy, you in particular should be standing in the Fever Zone anyway.
2. No, 'you're S***' as the keepers take a goal kick.
3. Frankie Mac says no Hymn books. hmmm... the new Fever t-shirt ?

A mate returning from Wellywood this morning reckons the atmosphere on the streets was pretty jovial.

We got it from Con Boutsianis the season after he'd run out on the Kingz.  We're giving it the 'if you see a thieving Aussie clap your hands' and then the f**ker scores and flips us both fingers right in the middle of the pitch.

Wish the ref had seen it.

what we had was good but i know this can be great if we get more people in the YF zone and more people chanting.

we can build from this solid start.

fever zone was good for a start but i feel we can improve. I think about 200 of us were chanting but in places it was only 30-50. The wellington chant was the best as everyone was singing/chanting it together.

I really hope that the YF zone does not have "families" as the look on some of the parents faces were not very welcoming.

i think for the real season we have core chants and a few random ones, we need leaders though to avoid people slacking off

great fun though and great result for the fans, no nutral fans can argue with 3-0.

im pumped for the melbourne game.

IM PHOENIX TIL I DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps by families i mean mum/dad taking there 5-8 year olds out for An adventure, if your a parent on this site and dont mind if your young child heres drunken chanting and the occasional outburst of swearwords then fine bring em in to the YFzone, as long as the chant they'll have fun haha

I had me four year old daughter in there and she loved it was singin and clappin along but yeah i agree its not going to be a section for families etc...

Had to laugh when we were singin "your sh*t and you know you are" my daughter asked why are they singin about their shirts daddy HAHHAHA has a ball cant wait for next game

Yellow fever zone was great.

Particularly the drunk scottish guy sitting behind me

That was probably me, I wasn't drunk, just getting warmed up - I did enjoy kicking off 'Are you England in  disguise' though!

A drunk Scotsman ,surely not!!
