What has given rise to your team's inexplicable reason for not being able to defend aerial balls of any kind this season?
Serious question Chelsea fans.
Cech has never been the same since Reading [ thanks Mr -unt who is at Hull now].
I love the way he gets booed everytime he touches the ball against us regardless of the club he's playing for.
Joe Cole maybe shown the door at Chelsea...on 80k week....now wants 120k a week.....most[ALL] of the midfielders at the Phoenix are playing better than him. He is free to leave at the end of the season, hope they don't give in to him....
"Losing their man"? Wait, are you suggesting that man-to-man marking concedes goals?! Only zonal marking does that!
Look at Chelsea's games against Villa and Wigan for examples of what happens when a player fails to pick up and stay with his man at defensive set pieces. Man to man marking is the very basic's and no defender worth his salt should allow what happened in these games to happen, it was a disgrace no wonder JT lost the plot.
I just read that apparently Drogba's celebration was "the gayest goal celebration ever". I havn't seen it, but that is some call.
Someone who hasn't seen Archir Thompson I suspect.

Huh? No, sorry. I'm referring to Perennial strugglers Liverpool set pieces- just to clarify.
oh yep i thought so. was confused cos we too have conceded alota goals off set pieces
Yeah, fair enough. Wasn't especially clear of me.

I think it has alot to do with Cech, he's unnerved the defence with his flapping at crosses. His confidence has not been the same since the injury at Reading a few years back. Nearly every game he makes a poor decision on a cross either staying put when he should be coming out or punching when he should be catching, JT and Co have no idea what he will do next and the result is some shambolic defending at times.
Saying that i still believe he is one of the top keepers in the Prem, his shot stopping and reflex saves are top drawer and often he has won us games, its just his consistancy on the high ball is lacking now.
Another factor at corners has been poor marking from Carvalho and Drogs in particular, both losing their man and costing soft goals
We need to tighten up in this area if we are to win the trophys were after.
He probably wants the same money as Ashley and Lamps but he's been well below par since his come back, and its looking like he is not in the long term plans of Ancellotti.
I wouldn't be suprised if he moved on at the end of the season especially if we sign a big name wide player such as Ribery
any sort of bad marking/defence concedes goals. no matter what you call it
Exactly. But whenever we concede a goal off a set piece (which admittedly we have done a lot lately!) it gets blamed on zonal marking. But you almost never hear anybody blaming man-to-man marking.
yea carvalho lost his man on both villa goals. understandably jt was royally pissed off at such playground defending
wow 7-2, that aint half bad for the first league game in 19 days
malouda was brilliant, as was lamps
thought joe cole played well, had a few poor first touches though.
anelka once again the spear of our attack.
good win without the african contingent
the more i see ashley cole's goal the better it becomes.
joe cole's cross to ballack was a peach
the wormald guy serviving our fire extinguishers at work happened to be a true blue supporter, an uxpected lengthy chat about football ensued
best way to pass the time at work
Good to see your keeping busy up those ways big fella...
well lamps is urging the club to keep joe cole at the bridge. i really dont wana see him go. he started showing what he is capable of on the weekend
sturridge and kakuta scored for the reserves, wouldnt mind seeing sturridge start vs preston this weekend partnering anelka
lets hit 7 again lads
lets hit 7 again lads
ITS KILLING ME! Inter game is still a month and a bit away!
yea i cant wait for the inter tie, will be good to see the reception jose gets back at the bridge
i think we will get past them with a comfortable win at home and a close game away

Classic incident I was told today. After yet another 3rd round FA Cup exit, a Chelsea fan said to a QPR fan, "Why do you guys even bother to enter the FA cup competition? You'll never win it!"
QPR fans response...."For the same reason you enter the Champions League !!"
i wouldnt say thats classic Downey262010-01-21 06:52:35
cant wait to see how the lads are guna react to being knocked off the top, got preston in the fa cup then birmingham, got a draw vs them last time so lets step up and grab the vital 3 points
f**king hell now essien is out for up to 6 weeks
thats f**king unhelpful
2-0 win over preston, that'll do
good to see sturridge score again
all eyes to birmingham midweek now, come on!!
we got cardiff in the next round, not alot of big teams left either. good chance for us to win back to back fa cups
Gotta love it. Winning the league is the priority though but if we can then make it a double (or even a treble) that would be great.
yae everyone says how unimportant the fa cup is when their team is knocked out but i would love to win it again
i really enjoy cup watching cup finals at wembly
but yea if i had to choose it would be the league. just gotta keep winning and keep our fate in our own hands
i Think we playing this team vs birmingham tommorow
Cech
Ivanovic Carvalho Terry A Cole
Ballack Deco Lampard
Joe Cole Anelka Malouda
big game and we need all 3 points.
drogba and kalou back for saturdays game vs burnley
6 points from these two games would be very nice indeed. pretty crucial period right now
man its a good positoin to be in at the moment, in front with games in hand and our 2 rivals playing each other
man that is an important win!!!
the first goal was good, good vision and throw from cech, great ball frolm joe cole, calm work from malouda and clinical finish from anelka
their goal was a good one, poor defending from alex but all in all good work from fletcher
joe coles goal looked to be correctly given offside when he scored but replays showed he wasnt
solid fight back though and terrys header was really good.
4 clear of man utd
5 clear of the ars
ok now we are 1 clear of man utd and 5 clear of arsenal with a game in hand vs hull on tuesday
big game!! lets grab the 3 points lads
drogba back for hull
so january, the month we were meant to struggle without our african players, we had 5 wins from 5 games scoring 19 goals and conceding 3
joe cole is looking better with every game which is a very good thing for the club.
and malouda is having, imo, his best season at the bridge
big game this morning vs hull
drogba back though, cant afford not to win
f**k 1-1 at halftime isnt great, big second half coming up
come on 20 mins to go, 3 points would be oh so helpful
f**k!! a point will have to do
dissapointing result
still, 2 points clear at the top, lets keep to the positives
Only 2 points though...

we usually bounce back after a sh*tty result so heres hoping we can do so against arse
drogba likes to play them so hopefully some more magic from him
