Staying in the EPL requires a bit of moolah. Sell a ferrari if you need to (I note your personal wealth has increased ths year but you still won't fund the team sufficiently to make a go at the EPL).

Absolutely 100% this.
De Jong is a thug, end of story.
Are you listening Mike Cashley?
Will be good to be up again. Get up, stay up, and balance the books.
The EPL must be glad that Newcastle chose to come back. (Scotland's not that far away, after all!)
As for new signings, the club's done pretty well on Bosmans lately. The transfer budget is less important than whatever salary cap is set and the effort that goes into getting good people.

Bad news again Mr Ashley. How can the same players that sent us down be expected to keep us up? Only good thing is that the money hungry pri*ks such as Owen and co are gone. Think 15 mill was needed to improve the squad though. We may be in for another relegation battle.
Official statement is on NUFC website.

...
Oh that is outstanding. It's gonna happen. Just wait and see.
Posting this in both my teams' threads.
Teh Trunk #9
Not quite as good as earlier ones but gets better towards the end.

These seem to be the new toon kits.
Home kit looks awful in my opinion. Others are simple but work nicely. Just dont like what puma have done with the NUFC crest.
Good thing: No vomit yellow pyjamas as away strip.
Bad thing: Everything else. last season's strip was very good - even the little blue bit was tasteful.
Needs more Newkie Brown.
I might be just about the next person on here ? ? to see the Toon live.
My son lives in Whitley Bay and is a mad fan, despite my efforts to convert him to the tricky trees i.e Forest. I will be back in Geordieland in late July for 4 weeks....and have promised to take him to an early season home game.
Nice one. Please post a report of the game and the mood of the club now (and see if you can pick up some umbro mouthguards and trainers for 1.99 and 3.97 pounds respectively! )
Rather late on - I've just realised that Guttierrez has been named in Argentina's 23 squad.
New strip out now: http://www.football.co.uk/newcastle_united/magpies_reveal_new_home_strip_rss903491.shtml
Looks OK I think, puma logo a bit naff but liveable!
Sol Campbell
We might get a couple of games out of him before he bggers off somewhere else.
Complete waste of money the club doesn't have.

The fat disgrace is a bit sensitive.
Ohwell, it could have been worse this morning. If only Carroll had scored. United destroyed us down the flanks.
From soccernet:
NEWCASTLE UNITED VERDICT: They avoided the fate of the other promoted side to visit title contenders, West Bromwich Albion, and if 3-0 wasn't particularly respectable, it wasn't embarrassing either. Chris Hughton's side appeared organised enough to suggest they can keep clean sheets against lesser sides, but their lack of pace is a hindrance.

sh*t what a result, after seeing how well villa played vs the hammers i certainly didnt expect that. nice way for carroll to announce himself to the epl

Ohhh what a night. Every single player was superb and gave 100%. It's been awile since i could say that about a NUFC performance in the premier league. And Andy Carroll delivers on what i have been talking about for the last couple of months. Lets keep the momentum going against Wolves and Blackpool in the next few weeks.

Steven Taylor transfer listed by Ashley. Do not know how i feel about this. Would love for him to stay at the toon, hes a quality home grown player but like it how the club are taking a firm stance on wages finally. Hopefully a agreement can be made though.

Also rumour mill has Robbie Keane moving to Toon.
That would be nice.

Hats off to ya for beating Chelsea, fantastic. Toons are definitely back to quality.
Well, good work from Hughton and the young lads.
Prioirty this year is to stay up so it's good to see how far we can go in the cups, but wise* of Hughton to rest some of the first team.
(* not the Denis kind)
The fact was it basically was our 2nd string team with gutierraz, collocini, smith. And chelsea had anelka, terry, ramires and benyoun all starting. Great result. Exciting times for the toon, woohoo!
I am glad to see a return to inconsistency. Predicting our hopes to be swelled by an outstanding performance against a complacent Man City, then a toothless effort against Wigan.
Our season starts on the 23rd.

I am starting to think that Lionel Messi would be playing for Newcastle if he wasn't at Barcelona. Poor lad! Maybe he'll get his chance one day?
De Jong is a thug, end of story.
No malice?
double leg break...quite Australian in style and not really the flying round house kick he normally uses.

De Jong really should be banned for four matches.
And the FA needs to brings its referees into line with the rest of the world game.
Absolutely 100% this.
Yes.
Assuming he keeps up his current form, how long will it take for Barton to get called up for England?
^is he even allowed to leave the country?
