Cheers Bud, Vs the Mackems may be my best chance to see Spurs in person this year on the return to Blighty. Let's hope the exchange rate stays the same and I might get to do the entire day in less than $150 HarryHotspur2011-06-20 19:38:42

i thought your last season's shirt was quite cool
How could hate the new strip (other than you;re a gooner of course), it looks to be the most inoffensive, traditional kit we've had for some time.
He's a link to all the new kits BTW (the new Bolton one is truly awful)

Levy has said he'd like to see him 'Rot in the Stands' rather than sell him to Chelski. Have to say I'd love to see that, but cant see it happening. Spurs run a pretty sensible ship financially and having someone sitting in the stands on 45k a week, when you could have sold him for 30-40m quid, doesn't seem to fit their previous business practice.
However it would be a great way for a club for once maintain control, rather than just turning around and pulliing their pants down, as so many do these days. Modric signed a 6 yr deal late last year for gods sake...
Getting sick of these Luka Modric crap now, he clearly wants to go to Chelski where he'll apparantly be paid exactly twice what Levy has said they will renegotiate to (Chelski 160k a week, Spurs 80k, which will make him top earner).
Agreed, I'd like to see that too (*what I would love to see is him do his talking on the pitch, in a spurs shirt!). There's a right way & a wrong way to go about wanting a move, and Modric seriously needs to actually put in a transfer request or wind his neck in and STFU...
foal30 makes a good point.

10 Dec: Stoke v Tottenham 3 pts - "Hot, shot Tottenham"

Sorry my squid powers don't extend to any cancellations due to Spurs progressing through the Carling Cup, Europa or any Icelandic voclanoes.

Fan of the new home kit
Looks OK - collar marginal.
kit similar to Toon's 3rd kit (both Puma)
LOVE the kits but f**k me those sponsors ruin it.
I do hanker for the" Holsten" and "Newcastle Brown" days of sponsorship.
I think I prefer last season's (which I didn't warm to much).
At a stretch can go for th ehome strip, but away strip makes me think of purple love hearts (if that's what those sweets back in the 70s were infact called) and as for the brown...still can't connect it to the team I love.
Oh, the sponsor's writing looks like its first off the rank of Microsoft WordArt. Vile.HarryHotspur2011-06-22 19:56:29

So I guess you won't be getting one in Dec-Jan then HH?
Quite a range of reactions on DML. Mostly not too keen and pretty much non-keen on the sponsor's name/font.

In particular:1970s, 1981, 1984 UEFA cup final.
Special mention: 1900s away.
Edit: I have the later 1999-2001 Adidas Holsten shirt. It has the blue collar which is actually not too bad. The crest is the old fashioned one as well. I like this very much but think that the ones above would be much better.
Never really liked the Mansion ones, Thompson was OK and I thnk that the current ones are OK as well (but agree with HH and others about the font of the sponsors name).
Also for what it's worth I don't like any red on our lillywhite.
Think I may have the same one as you (although mine also has the addition of a faint kebab stain)
1984 UEFA FTW.
I never knew the early 1900s prototype for the Nix stripey was at Spurs!

There are a few Spurs -Nix connections which are spookily awesome:
1. 1900s away strip is the same as Nix 1st strip.
2. Nix away strip is predominantly white - same as Spurs 1st strip.
3. Both have birds in their crest.
4. In Chinese Phoenix can be a fancy way of saying chicken for cuisine - a cock is a male chicken.
5. I am Chinese and I support Spurs and Nix.
6. Both teams are located in the capitals of their countries.
7. Neither team has red

Spurs: We Have Ambition
Tottenham Hotspur have insisted that "our ambition matches the ambition of Luka Modric." A club spokesman told reporters: "Tottenham Hotspur would also like to earn 100,000 a week and play for Manchester United. As a young club growing up in the favelas of N17, it was Spurs' dream one day to pull on the famous red shirt and win the trophies Tottenham's talent deserves. It is a short career and a club has to do what is right for itself."

Need to sort out your shanty town terminology. Bustees would be a better aproximation than Favelas.
That site also has Pat Jennings shirts (green keeper shirt). I may not recall this correctly but I thought green was a bog standard goalie shirt in the 1970s and I think that Barry Daines, Millia Aleksic and Ray Clemence all wore green as well.
Junior822011-06-24 12:54:48
Still there's only one Pat Jennings...
Speaking of old shirts and 1981:
Milja is wearing green
Can't wait to see how Kyle Walker and Sandro go with full seasons in the lilywhite. Saw a ludicrous rumour saying we were selling Sandro to Roma for 12mil, what a joke!
Hoping Danny Rose can cement that left back position ahead of BAE who's a bit dodgy sometimes.

Despite BAEs propensity for gaffs, I'm not entirely convinced Rose is that man for the spot. Nevertheless, the boy needs time (and let's face it, any Spurs fan on planet earth will not begrudge him that after THAT goal).
14 April 2010.
Locking my car on the way to the BBer...still my shock was all the same when they showed it on the replay :-)
That's all he'll achieve in his career anyway, he may as well retire now while people still remember it.
Retire or go to Arsenal. Both will assure he has no more achievements.

I'd say Modric had an understanding (ie not on paper) with Levy that Levy now will not 'accommodate'.
Regardless of this, the problem is Tottenham have developed a player who now can get swallowed by a much bigger club simply on wages. This is no way to develop a sport.
Tottenham are very hard done by. It's even more of a pity becasue Modric is such a good player he actually makes the EPL stronger. Opposition teams do have to specifically counter him, and in all honesty despite EPL constant banging on about being the Worlds best how many players genuinely offer Modric level of skill and general 'vision'.
moan whinge
same applies with my beloved Arsenal and Nasri actually. The only consolation will be if they both go (IMO unlikely for Nasri, highly likely for Modric) it's to an overseas club. The EPL will be poorer for their exit but at least the 2 clubs in question who gambled on skills players won't have the indignity of chq book champions running them out.

Heh heh, despite impending doom that was great
foal30 makes a good point. I think this Modric business is massive. He's a player who can, with the addition of a top class striker, lift Spurs to beat the Man Utd, City, Chelsea's week-in week-out.
Any time a player looks decent in a club thats not Chelsea, Liverpool, United or City, they will get snapped up by said clubs. Henderson, Adam, Downing, Jones, Milner (half the current City squad) are all examples, is Modric to follow. He's Spurs' most important player and will create a huge hole.
Get that fitness up Rafa!

Here is my one and only live match (not counting chariddy games): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnL_RYIwGr0
Behind one of the goals very far up (1 adult - my mate's uncle and 4 kids under 10: We might have been the only 5 Chinese Yiddos in England then...).
New striker signed...
Sounds like a good bit of business by DL there, he was on fire at the U17s and lots of big clubs were after him - good prospect, fingers crossed he comes good!
Hopefully we'll start to see more movement in the transfer market soon, we still a striker who can lead the line on his own/actually score a few goals + to move on some of our deadwood...

Thoughts on Adebayor?
What about Lucas Barrios or Nelson Valdez?
Coulibaly was a gamble but it's a smart one.
