Was nice to see Pogba get called up from the Reserves, hopefully he can get some games in the 1st team this year, but I think it will be next year when he really steps up.  Still needs to build his body up a bit, but the kid is something special.

United fans up and down the country should get involved with the Official Supporters Club here.  It's the club's AGM this Sunday 7th August in Auckland, anyone and everyone welcome.

The club is currently developing a new website, it's a work in progress https://mufcnzsc.webs.com/

Rob runs a Twitter account www.twitter.com/mufcnz

The club also owns season tickets at Old Trafford available to all Club members.

Get in touch, it's always great to meet fellow Reds!

I've tweeted the guy before, seems like a good chap. Not sure what I can do from down here in Wellys but happy to join up or whatever. Got any more details? Thanks mate.

I really hope so, what a player he could be for us.  Where he will fit in I'm not so sure, but I expect him to join us next week some time.

If we could make one more transfer in the next 5 years I would choose Sneijder right now. I'll be so depressed if we don't get him. I think we could cope without him, I just think he'll add so much to our midfield.

Honestly, I really wouldn't worry about him. He's a top, top, top keeper with a good attitude. He is easily good enough to be your keeper for the next 15 years. And trust me, I don't hand out compliments to United players easily

Decent start to the season. Will be interesting to see how De Gea goes early on, and if he starts the first game or if Lindegaard comes in.

He is only young(very young at this level) City's second was a rocket, and although he was a bit slow going down, Vidic was to blame as he just backed off(again) and allowed Dzeko to hit a fierce shot from outside the area.
The first goal was poor defending fron Vidic and Rio( although de Gea should has come out and punched it)
Overall, Utd were by far the better side(I expected City to be a lot better)and it was unreal that they were 2-0
up at half time.
In this game there were too many thugs in the City team, and they were lucky to still have eleven men on the park at the end. It was early in the season and I expect City to get a lot better..

Newcastle take Obertan for an undisclosed fee. Good luck to him. I don't think he was ever destined to make it at United.

Reckon we'll get Sneijder? There's several stories a day saying he's definitely coming and several saying he's definitely not. I'd rate our chances at 30/70.

Yeah I'm thinking unlikely but am hoping like hell we do get him. He'd be huge for the league. This story shocked me but it probably has as much substance as every other rumour. Wait and see I guess.

Don't really know what to believe, United like to do their transfer business quietly so they won't be happy the Sneijder deal has dragged on this long.  I wouldn't be surprised if we get him and I wouldn't be surprised if we don't.  Sounds like the stumbling block is he wants to paid in Euros and the Pound isn't worth many Euros these days.

I don't think we'll sign him - have said so all the way. I don't think we need him exactly, unless Ferguson isn't happy with Hernandez starting and would rather Rooney played right up front. A team with Rooney in the hole, and Sneijder doesn't work in my head. We need two genuine central midfielders, especially if Carrick is one, to control the middle of the park. Sneijder has played further forward for Inter.

I want a central midfielder who can make hard tackles, scare the sh*t out the opposition and pass the ball to Rooney, the wingers etc.

Whether you and I want him in the team or not, you can't deny we have been trying to sign him, David Gill has been speaking to Inter regularly, we just won't pay his wage demands.  If he lowers them, he will come.

It seems like a decent risk to take, especially with the debt issues in Greece, Spain and some other European countries that trade in Euro.

Still see Sneijder as potentially taking the place of Hernandez, Berbatov, Welbeck etc. as he would probably prefer to play in front of our other midfielders/behind Rooney, more or less where Rooney would play with Hernandez and having Rooney as the most forward player.

That's exactly what I was trying to say, but you said it much better.

I don't think there's a lot wrong with having Welbeck and Hernandez in that role.

Sorry dude I'm not convinced that's happened at all. Two days ago Wesley comes out and says there have been 'infomal chats between contacts' or something similar. To me that doesn't amount to the CEO ringing their CEO with a 'we'll pay whatevs if we can agree on a wage'.

A couple of the papers in England have run with the story we will sign him all summer, regardless of Ferguson and Gill's statements, pretty much to the contrary. It may happen and you may be right, but I don't think what I have seen reported so far as solid evidence that the deal will happen.

I should say I have nothing against Sneijder, he is a world class player. One of the very best. I'm just looking at the squad and trying to see what Ferguson is trying to do with Rooney, Hernandez, Cleverley etc., and I don't see how it works with Sneijder.

However if he does arrive I will love watching him launch our title defence and have another crack at the Champions League.

I have to agree with you Paulinho. I would absolutely, 150% love to see nothing more than Sneijder in a United shirt this season. If you think in terms of history, Sir Alex isn't one to go confirming a transfer before the contract has been officially signed. An obvious exception to this principle was de Gea. Sir Alex confirmed de Gea would arrive, at least a month before he'd signed any contract or passed the medical. In that month, de Gea tried to quash these confirmations through his lawyer. The difference with the Sneijder situation is that Sir Alex has publicly stated that we aren't bidding for him. I know this may be just because we don't want people to know what we are doing, but I don't have a good feeling about this one. I hope I'm wrong and we do get him. I think all these secret meetings between CEOs are just press babble looking for a story. David Gill was photographed at one of the Universities they visited (Harvard??) on the very SAME DAY that those stories emerged that he was having lunch with Moratti in Milan!

The fee of 33 million has been agreed by the Clubs, it's all about Sneijders wages now.  I'm not saying he will come, I'm not sure I want him to, but it is only his wage demands stopping the transfer right now. I guess we will see, but I'm told by people who know more than me and are closer to the club than me that it will happen.
