I know that you will be all really keen to know that Exeter City from the Conference have made it to Wembley for the first time in their 100 plus years of history. They beat Jim Smiths Oxford over two legs, extra time and penalties in the play-off semi final game of incredible tension.

I will be chartering a plane for the NZ Grecians so we can all get to Wembley so please let me know how many want to come.

Whatever you write below  really doesn't matter because....

We're playing Morecombe. Who beat York City in their semi.
We've been allocated 20000 tkts with more if neccessary. Our average home gate is about 3000.
All indications are that we will require more than the 20000.
There are at least two (unrelated and we didn't know each other) travelling from NZ.

Football - don't you just love it?

Fair play to you mate.
We're just going for the fun and the sense of occasion. After a lifetime of following Exeter City I never expect to win anything.
Cheers

Firstly congratulations on reaching the final Exeter City.  I well remember trips to Exeter following Colchester United over the years and was sad when they lost league status.  In the first two seasons down I was sure they would get back but it didnt happen!

Beating Oxford is no mean feat.  I had them as favourites for the title at the beginning of the season and there is no doubt they are the "super club" of the Conference right now in terms of finance and support.

Exeter must now be favourites as Morecambe are not really League material in my opinion.  If Morecambe go up they will be down in one or two seasons.  Exeter are more likely to emulate Doncaster and Yeovil if they go up.

The crowd will amaze the uninitiated  - I would fully expect a 35k crowd  (split 70% for Exeter).

Cheers for that mate. Apparently we've sold out of our original 20000 tkt allocation so you may well be right about the crowd.
I'm looking forward to it - it'll be a great day.

Always kept an eye on Exeter due to the Orient/Inglethorpe connection. I know he's now with Spurs academy but I've always thought he's a O's manager of the future, probably will be if and when Martin Ling goes.
Who's in charge now, still Tisdale/Perryman? And have you shaken off the Uri Geller connections yet?

Bloody hell - don't ask. Probably the most embarrassing moment in City's history - if not football's.
Yeah, Perryman/Tisdale are still there although Tisdale is the manger and Perryman acts purely as a 'voluntary advisory' capacity. Whatever that is. We've always been suspicious that it's really Perryman who pulls the strings.
Sir Alex Inglethorpe is much respected in Exeter. He completed the feat of holding Man Untd to a draw at Old Trafford although his constant tinkering and rotation policy (don't you have to have a decent squad to have a 'rotation policy') is suspected of not getting into the play-off's for the last two seasons.

It always amazes the unaware the sorts of crowds the lower divisions in Englandcan attract. If you think of a club like, say, the aforementioned Torquay, 92nd best team in England but can still average crowds of around 3000. Quite phenomenal really.

Hard luck Exeter Grecian.  You were right about the crowd though a huge 40k one.

You can fight for next years Conference title with Oxford.

Morecambe have no chance of long term survival in League and will be back down this year or next.

Yeah cheers mate,
just got back -hence the late reply.
We lost but it was still worth it. If your team ever gets to Wembley then I swear you have just got to, got to, go. The experience was incredible.
We took over 30,000 fans out of a total crowd of 40,000. Morecambe won the first half but we were the better side in the second, pushing for the winner and they scored a break away goal of brilliant quality that he will never be able to do again and 99 times out of 100 would end up in the row Z. It was the 86th minute and just too late to recover.
As we all know there is no justice in football.

But I repeat....the new Wembley is the mecca for all football fans. If you have a chance to go then it should be done.
