He's awesome. Really really awesome.

There are several kiwis playing for top 50 teams which bodes well for the future:
4. Boston College: Colin Murphy
7. New Mexico: Matthew Gibbons
16. Old Dominion: Thomas Webb
18. Louisville: Nick Corliss
25. West Virginia: Andy Bevin
Ryan Cain
Craig Stephens
29. Brown: Alex Carr
35. Fairfield: Adam Cowan
Michael O'Keefe
Jonathon Raj
50. Columbia: Liam Cain
The former Hawkes Bay United striker started all 20 matches and finished his rookie campaign as leading scorer with seven goals, and added two assists.
Bevin becomes the first WVU player in history to earn this honor, as well as being the first to earn BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, ECAC Mens Soccer Rookie of the Year. Bevin was also named to the all-BIG EAST third team and was an NSCAA all-Northeast region member.
He is happy the door is open for him to return to the American university but he anticipates the Olympics will cross over with his studies in July/August (when the US varsities begin classes), if Emblen selects him in his only opportunity to represent his country at the Games.

I had a look to see how Andy Bevin was going back at his US College, and noticed we have 2 other Kiwi's at West Virginia.
Ryan Cain was sent off in their first game and Craig Stephens is also there. Bevin has started all 4 games for the Mountaineers but hasn't scored yet, both Cain & Stephens have started 3 games each according to this statistics website:

In men's soccer Michael O'Keeffe has ended his college career with Fairfield University by being named in the Metro Atlantic Athletic all-conference first team along with kiwi classmate and former Auckland City and Team Wellington defender Jonathan Raj.
It was Raj's third selection in the side and O'Keeffe's fourth. For goalkeeper O'Keeffe it capped off a stellar college career that also saw him called up to the OFC Nations Cup with the All Whites in June and star for the Oly Whites at the London Olympics.
With the affects of Hurricane Sandy affecting the east coast of the USA the final three rounds of competition were cancelled and post-season action has also been affected.
So what now for O'Keeffe I wonder. Would he be good enough to get drafted?
Are foreign goalkeepers a very popular thing? I personally wouldn't imagine so,but actually have no idea or figures to back that up.
Gleeson?
Nicholas keown robson seems to have a good to get drafted in the MLS this year. He has been ranked between number 17 and 27 which is mostly a second round draft pick

Not sure how prestigious the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship is, but seems Sam Blackburn is having a good crack with Mobile - now into the quarters after he scored. Think this is his final year so he literally is playing for survival
Michael Hagarty is playing for the University of Charleston (West Virginia) http://ucgoldeneagles.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=1490

scout opinion on colin murphy ahead of the superdraft
MLS draft tomorrow, can't seem to find much about how Murphy has gone during the combine. Doubt he will get drafted.
It made me wonder tho, do many of these kids that head to US colleges come back and play ASB Premiership once they graduate?
I think Murphy and keown robson have a chance to get drafted at the mls supplemental draft not at the superdraft. The same than what happened with boxall and keat
Nick robson has been selected today by toronto fc in the supplemental draft. Colin murphy hasn t been selected

Waits for Murphy to Phoenix clamour.
Waits for Murphy to Phoenix clamour.
Surely nobody would do that...
Is there a Phoenix in North America as well?
Ryan Nelsen's influence?
Jesus you can see 'this kiwi college kid to Toronto FC/Phoenix (delete non applicable) starting around this place
Waits for Murphy to Phoenix clamour.
Where do most US College graduates go? ASB Premiership? Life after football? Surely not that many have gone straight into pro football?

yeah i know a few who have recently graduated and havent got any other football options after college. A few of them come back, but a lot of them end up staying over there seeing as thats where their lives/girlfriends are still
The kids are being told by NZ football not to go through the college system anymore - To many rubbish programmes and players getting lost.
Although if you have a young player who is very injury proned but is at a good standard the US system is the best way - at worst they get a free education and come back to NZ. (Scholarships will carry them through 4years)
The risk is getting to sign pro papers then getting injured after a year - then you have nothing and can not got to college (NCAA)
If Tyler Boyd got seriously injured - then going to uni getting the loan and living the normal life awaits him..
