Stoke fans really are animals.
(The not-so-temporary quite-official) Gooner Thread (Part 1)
Results overall pretty decent for us over the weekend. Race for third still on:
Stoke fans really are animals.
I don't think they have a monopoly on that particular title, unfortunately.
No of course not. I find Chelsea fans the worst tbh. Just so full of bile and anger.
I sat behind these two guys at the Emirates who every now and then, for absolutely no good reason, would stand up and make wanker gestures at the Newcastle fans. They seemed more intent on watching and goading the Newcy fans than watching the game. They then got all indignant when security came over and told them to sit down and shut up. Really odd stuff.

Monreal looked great... early days; has pedigree, time, touch, though no right foot shot it seems (lol)... it sucks to be Gibbsy right about now unfortunately.
I do think so. But it's quite ok that you don't... all I'm saying is that a fully fit Nacho is looking better than a fully fit Gibbso... not saying you don't utilise both - of course you do, and hopefully we'll be in a position where we can. Here's hoping.
Surge, I need a gift of a 5 year old poking his tongue out ;-)

arsenal.com has changed... not sure I like it!

I like it... more modern, less cuttered, more engaging. And it doesn't look web 1.0 any more which is always a bonus lol...
Simple is better, anyone tried accessing on a mobile device?
no but by the looks of it that might be the idea behind a lot of the changes?

Probably this for tonight, assuming arsene follows brumby's Ignasi advice:
Szczesny
Sagna-Mertesacker-Miquel-Monreal
Arteta-Wilshere
Walcott-Cazorla-Podolski
Giroud
Bench: Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky, Diaby, Ramsey, Jenkinson, Santos, Mannone,
koscielny scratched in the warm-up, wonder what happened there? Apparently passed a fitness test before that...
Sagna was immense! Played like a natural centreback, great foil for mertesacker, they worked like a charm
Shoulda scored so many more, we actually look in good nick right now, last 20 mins we were very tired from going down to 10, what stuff from szczesny to keep us the three points.
What a bench with Ox, Poldi and Diaby all sitting there.
And how good was aaron ramsey at RB
I was worried early on when Monreal got done a couple of times by Sessegnon but otherwise we handled everything that was thrown at us. Keepers of both sides made some pretty awesome saves.
Indeed lacked clinical-ness (noo word) in front of goal. Some greedy stuff at the end with players in better shooting positions. Giroud looked completely out of gas in that last 10 mins. Cazorla was eeeeeemmense for most of that game.
Hopefully Jack ain't too busted.
Yeah the Kos thing was WEIRD!
Sagna was boss at RB, Jenkinson was exposed all day, he doesn't have the positioning/football brain to handle someone with more pace than him, and that card had been coming.
Ramsey also bossed RB too! Enjoyed Jack & Santi's midfield work, but was mostly disappointed with Giroud, too much confidence with all those chances being off target! Walcott was unlucky, but it was really a game for the goalies, with it being bloody competitive in that regard!
Finally a whole week between matches, hopefully another FA Cup victory Saturday night, OH and Santos back to Brazil looks like it's going to happen!!!
Just had the realisation that robin van persie lifting the league trophy at the emirates is a very real possibility.
I feel sick.

Who is this Van Persie guy you speak of?? 20 points behind man u is crap....stings like hell that we dont have a rivalry with them anymore
Great win in the weekend, its games like that which could get us over the line.....Sagna was simply WOW, our goal was great as well. We should have put the game to bed before halftime to be honest. the last 20-25 mins of that game nearly killed me, i was sure they were going to score one. Ramsey seems to be get some good form back which is great to see but he still does some very silly passes or losses the ball in bad position. I really want to start seeing more for diaby i know he's been injured forever but he needs to start bossing games. oh yeah nearly forgot to mention Arteta, he was great as well i thought but in saying that he has been great for us all season.
Am I right in thinking we have our first Champions League match next week? If so, with Monreal cup tied, will we have Gibbs back? If not, who do we put in? Because Champions League isn't exactly easy opposition time.
Also with Jenkinson suspended this weekend, will we have two solid CB's available so Sagna can head back to RB?
As per usual it's injuries and suspensions and now cup tied players causing head aches at the back!
This weekend: Sagna-Kos-Mert-Nacho
Bayern: Sagna-Kos-Mert-Verm
If Vermaelen is not fit then god help us, we'll be bad enough with him at LB anyway.

Normally we don't need those issues to cause headaches at the back. We seem to be able to do it quite easily on our own.
Kosc should be fit for the weekend and will need to back up for Bayern. Perhaps Sagna to LB in the champs league until Gibbs is fit again?

I'm hoping Ignasi get's a run at CB with Kos, hopefully keep Mert fresh for Bayern.
I think Sagna to LB has to be the only logical option, although Coquellin did a job there. Hell Ramsey could be getting picked for RB based on his performances so far, although I don't think his pace would go well against Robben or Robinho.
Interestingly F365 reports we had a scout watching Waynaymamantyabya from Celtic yesterday and that we're looking for a big burly Song type DMF, which would be nice. I feel like that's our only real area of weakeness, and potentially RB depending on we still have Sagna for next season.

We've been scouting Wananarama for a couple of years now supposedly... Big Nose is mean't to be keen too. FIIK.
Would you take Dzeko off city's hands? Imagine reverting to a 4-4-2 with Dzeko & Giroud forward, Poldi & Walcott on the wings, Jack & Santi in the middle!
Pick for the weekend;
Szy
Sagna Mertesacker Miquel Monreal
Ramsey Coquelin
Diaby/Rosicky
Arshavin Gervinho Oxlaide-Chamberlain
We can't rotate much at the back, but the midfield and front three can be.
Now sounding like Vermaelen might be ok for tomorrow night. If he is, I'll go with:
Blackburn:
Szczesny
Sagna-Mertesacker-Vermaelen-Monreal
Diaby-Ramsey
Chamberlain-Rosicky-Podolski
Giroud
Bayern Munich:
Szczesny
Jenkinson-Mertesacker-Koscielny-Sagna
Arteta-Wilshere
Walcott-Cazorla-Podolski
Giroud
If Vermaelen isn't fit, Kosc still might be - if both miss out we could see Coquelin at fullback or Miquel start at CB.
Plenty of options outside of the back 4 though, all depends how much resting arsene wants to do ahead of a very important month or so...
I"ve seen that match before.
Far too many times.
It's time for change.
I really understand how the Arsenal fans feel today. AF has done the same for years in the FA cup. Has put his '2nd team ' out thinking that they will be good enough and has backfired.
This has driven me nuts for years and I know that the CL is where the money is but that does not cut any ice with me.
That's exactly what happened leggy, and to be fair the second team should have been good enough. They had all the ball, enough chances, and should've created more. Giroud was the only one in that front 6 from our strongest eleven (Arteta perhaps too, but Ramsey has been in his position for our most recent good performances).
Oxlade-Chamberlain, Diaby and Arteta were absolute pants in that game for me. Giroud was quiet, but the service can probably be blamed there, he ran all day. Gervinho was, well, sigh, just Gervinho. Not super-Gervinho with a lethal finish that plays for Ivory Coast, I don't think they're related.
Rosicky was pretty decent, created some good chances, very nearly scored, a good effort from someone who hasn't had a lot of minutes this season. Easy to forget he was first-choice in behind van Persie last season... certainly the only one from that front 6 who looks like he could be in our first choice team for the bigger games.
The defence was pretty good really, blackburn had virtually no chances, the goal was a lucky mis-kick from a parried save. Coquelin was decent at RB.
Silver lining is less fixture-congestion as we push for 3rd.
Bayern on Wednesday morn. Actually looking forward to that. We're being written off all over the show, particularly after yesterday, and particularly given their current record - leading bundesliga by 15 points, only 7 goals conceded in league play this season, including 5 wins with clean sheets on the trot right now - and Robben and Gomez have been on the bench!
But despite yesterday, our attacking first choice players are in-form and linking very well right now (talking about Wilshere, Cazorla, Walcott, Podolski and Giroud). I back us to be able to score goals against Bayern. It's conceding them that might be the issue!
