just wondering SiNZ, how much of my broadband allowance watching a
game like that would chew through??
My understanding was that if we lost to Macedonia (better not happen ) than England would have to beat us by MORE than 2 goals to knock us out? Unless the score was 2-0, in which case it would come down to goal difference?

I checked the UEFA website, the wording of the first tie-breaker rule is most points won in the matches between the tied teams and there is no mention of away goals rule applying in case of a tie ( as it would be if England won). So it seems as if any 2 goal win would do it for England if we lose to Macedonia (I have full faith in the lads they won't let such a travesty happen though...).
Btw, Macedonia is the only team to score against us at home in this qualifying cycle. Goce Sedloski (former Dinamo player at that!) from a free kick.

England vs Russia
Not on ESPN at all, but Germany v Czech Slovakia is on.
f**king joke
I reckon, I was so pissed off.
This is the biggest game not just in the group but in the whole of qualifying!

Our best bet is watching BBC and hoping for some glimpses.

Its on at a ridiculous time isnt it, about 3 in the morning?
Yeah some rubbish like that. Due to time zones and what not.
What times the Czech Republic - Germany game on?
Bout 7 in the morning I think.
Good thing it wasn't on in the end aye?
Only good thing to possibly come out of this...McClown will go.
England now depend on other results to qualify.
Agree the guys a muppet!!!!
I've wanted Hiddink as England manager for years, the guy is a
genious
(who had an off day at Wembly )
(who had an off day at Wembly )
I watched it live in the end.
The UEFA website offer live video coverage. It costs 5.99
Euros (about $9) to watch a game. I definitely recommend it. Don't
make the mistake I did and buy a 4.99 Euro pass - that gives you
the right to watch their designated match. The extra Euro means you
choose the match.
The quality of the picture was good. I maximised it on my
laptop screen, which made it a wee bit blurry.
I just wish we'd not lost. Ignoring the possibility of Andorra
beating or drawing with Russia, we have three hopes:
- if Israel draw with Russia, we can go through by beating
Croatia.
- if Israel beat Russia, we can go through with a
draw against Croatia.
- if Macedonia beat Croatia, we can go through by beating
Croatia by two goals.

Couldn't say. I'm in a hotel in Auckland for business. I'm not
looking forward to the check out cost. There's a cost for every mb
over the first 50... will let you know tomorrow.
Too watch the football, it's worth it.....

....except for that bit.
thanks SiNZ, depending on the figures i might need to upgrade my
plan
CMON Israel!!!
CMON Israel!!!
According to
ESPN are showing the following
qualifiers from the final two rounds in November:
Scotland vs. Italy Live
Norway vs. Turkey Delay
Germany vs. Cyprus Delay
England vs. Croatia Live
Germany vs. Wales Delay
Hungary vs. Greece Live
Does anyone here use Sopcast or other P2P software to watch games
online? Theres plenty of avenues to see live games, its a bit
choppy and you have to change streams, it's usually quite good
though, but you have to have a lots of Broadband allowance if you
want to watch regularly.
Yeah i use Sopcast but only when my Broadband is at full speed
otherwise you have no chance.

Well all I can say is that I hope when NZ and England next meet
England plays like that, becuase we will win. That result
here in England has gone down the same way as the France game
against us in Rugby.

Two goals would do it, providing it was 2-0 - otherwise it
would need to be three goals as Croatia would have the head-to-head
away goals then.
If it's 2-0, then group goal difference is next. Assuming that
the Macedonia win was 1-0, Croatia would be +18 and England
+20.
Probably academic - Macedonia and Croatia have met three times
in competitive fixtures:
2000 Quals - Croatia 3 Macedonia 2
2000 Quals - Macedonia 1 Croatia 1
2008 Quals - Croatia 2 Macedonia 1
Come on Macedonia... Come on Israel....

As I cover the Euro2008 qualifiers on my website, I make a
point of obtaining the official tournament regulations and
programming to meet them exactly.
The groups are sort as follows:
The finishing order within each group
will be decided as follows: a. greater
number of points obtained in all the group matches;
b. greater number of points from the matches
between the tied teams; c. goal
difference resulting from matches between the tied teams;
d. greater number of goals scored in the
matches between the tied teams; e.
greater number of away goals scored in the matches between the tied
teams; If after applying the above
criteria, one team is identified as holding a superior ranking but
two or more teams remain, criteria b to e are iteratively
re-applied to the remaining teams to
determine their rankings. Criteria f and above are only then used
if teams remain tied. f. goal
difference resulting from all the group matches;
g. greater number of goals scored in all the
group matches; h. greater number of
away goals scored in all the group matches; i. Fair play conduct j.

Cheers SiNZ. Hope this is all acedemic anyway.
