I don't think our style lends itself to Ozil/Giroud being a striking partnership as such... certainly not in the same mould as the three mentioned.
Ozil doesn't stay up front a lot, he really mixes it up, spending stretches on a flank while ramsey/rosicky/wilshere go in behind Giroud, or even dropping deep and properly playing in midfield - he did that for a big chunk of the first half against dortmund I noticed, with rosicky or ramsey ahead of him instead. Fabregas and Cazorla (in the first half of last season at least) played like second strikers at Arsenal, but I don't think we've really operated a proper 2 striker system since we had adebayor and van persie together. When Benitez went all european with the 4-2-3-1 at Liverpool everyone started to copy it. This is the first time I can remember since about 2009 that 2 strikers has been in fashion at the bigger clubs.
