From sportingLife live feed:
2100: There could be some incredible scenes at White Hart Lane tonight. There are reports on the websites of both The Sun and The Times that Tottenham have already reached agreement over a severance package with Martin Jol and that this is his last match in charge. More if we get it.

and: 2106: Albin lashes in a shot from distance for Getafe and Dawson deflects it behind for a corner. Spurs fans are chanting the name of Martin Jol. Perhaps they've heard the 'news'.

Its a shame really coz now they are more likely to be relegated than get into the top 5 with a new manager.

I feel a little sorry for Jol tbh. He (or indeed any other coach) was never going to be able to achieve the lofty ambitions of the club.

Still, that 30:1 for Tottenham to be relegated is looking pretty appealing.

2118: Martin Jol is getting a terrific send-off - if that is what it is - from the Tottenham crowd. A chant of 'Stand Up For Martin Jol' has just rung around the stadium and there were very few bums left on seats. Maybe we're reading too much into it, but Jol looks moved.

2144: The latest news is that apparently Martin Jol tendered his resignation before Spurs' match with Getafe.

Sad to see him go. He has my respect - even though he looked like Muttley.

Good to see Spurs give him a good sending off too, going down 1-2 to Getafe at home.

He put them in Europe, so it's only fitting they should come out on the day he leaves.

Never heard of Muttley. He looked like super-intendent Chalmers off the Simpsons (or as Ralph called him, super-nintendo Chalmers).

Tottenham board confirm Jol's sacking<!-- end pagetitle -->

LONDON, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Tottenham Hotspur have sacked their Dutch manager Martin Jol, the Premier League club said in a statement on Thursday.

<!-- new alias = AUS_england_uefauefa_story_300x250 --><!-- new key = 367+story;kvpage=story;kvcc=AUS;kvsection=england;kvleague=uefauefa;kvclub=367;kvaid=475820;grp=1396994 --><!-- Tag // Tag for network 605: ESPN TN // Website: ESPN SC Keyword Site // Page: All // Placement: 300 X 250 (1181107) --> <!-- End of Tag -->'We can confirm that the board has this evening asked Martin Jol, the club manager, and Chris Hughton, the first team coach, to stand down from their positions with immediate effect,' the statement read.

Bizarrely Jol, who took over from Jaques Santini in 2004, was in the dugout for Tottenham's 2-1 UEFA Cup defeat by Spanish club Getafe on Thursday as rumours circulated that his three-year reign was at an end. The 51-year-old has been tipped for the sack all season since highly fancied Tottenham lost their opening Premier League game against newly promoted Sunderland. After consecutive fifth-placed finishes in his two full seasons in charge of the north London club, this season has been a huge letdown. Tottenham are currently third from bottom with just one win from their opening 10 games. 'I can understand the position of the club in light of the results,' Jol said on the club's website. 'I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Tottenham Hotspur is a special club and I want to thank the terrific staff and players. 'For me the fans were always amazing with their support so I would also like to say thank you - I shall never forget them.' The club did not say who would replace Jol, although Seville's Juande Ramos, who was approached in August, is expected to take over. Former Tottenham striker and current development coach Clive Allen will be in charge of the first team on Sunday at home to Blackburn Rovers.

Muttley was Dick Dastardly's dog on Stop the Pigeon.

Jol had the same lower jaw.
