All Whites Coach Speculation

In my employment contract there is a six month clause whereby in short it says we appreciate that you have a right to make a living, but if you leave you can't pinch our clients or staff for a period of 6 months.

If it is in my contract which I believe meets employment law I don't see why it can't be NZ footballs.

That's different though, your contract is talking about clients, the contract that your proposing would restrict the ability for individuals to work.

no it mentions taking staff as well - see my initial post

I doubt any contract which restricts the ability for someone to change employment is enforceable.

Emblen hasn't been on contract with NZF since June.

Bazeley's NZF contract would have ended the same time as Hudson's.

Kim's NZF contract would have ended the same time as Hudson's.

When you think about it, that’s probably quite an obvious situation that was not considered

Non compete clauses?

No, a clause which states you won't hire a former coworker if you leave.

Those are standard and enforceable

They would cover only people under NZF's employment, right? Which none of these people are.

Could Arnold coach NZ and Sydney in the first year? Especially when AW games are few and far between?

Sure, but usually only in a limited time/geographic area?  Would a worldwide non-compete hold up in court?  Not sure of the precedent there.

They aren't neccersarily enforceable, they violate antitrust laws.

the whole point here is that the coaches and staff hudson picked up were potentially out of contract - if they were under contract and they had clauses which allowed NZF to deny them the chance to move (rightly or wrongly) to a competing "business" then Hudson would not have been able to gut NZF.

Putting a clause in Hudson's contract is a little trickier but as was pointed out if NZF were organised they would have contracted those guys they wanted to keep.

Anyway I'm not that worried (admit I don't know how good the video guy was) but let Heraf recruit some continental Europeans (sure he knows a few) that will all row the same direction in terms of philosophy of play etc and rebuild.

Love to see it but sadly can't see it happening even though Arnold is miles ahead of the previous incumbent.

You don't see that very often do you? Managers moving across genders. I know we just had Heraf take over the Silver Ferns, but he came from an administrative role.

On news.com.au...

"It’s believed the All Whites, who missed out on qualification for the upcoming World Cup in Russia, would be happy for [Graham] Arnold to coach the team in conjunction with his duties at Sydney. The Sydney FC boss said that possibility had not been discussed.

“That would be two discussions that I would need to have,” Arnold said.

“One with the All Whites and one with Sydney FC.”

Yes, but surely we should at least give Kaledzić until the end of the season? ;)

Yes... But know way it will happen. No way. He's using the rumour as a bargaining chip to get the Aussie gig, and if he fails at that then he might as well sit pretty at Sydney and keep winning everything and be paid well

The Aussies might just hire a coach for the World Cup and then reappoint after that. He'd want to be free for that eventuality you'd think.

Personally I'm hoping he does a Herbert, its not as if we play much anyway.

I do think though we are being used as a pawn for the Aussie gig which I don't much like.  If Aussie brings in someone else, will he man up and the the AW gig?  Personally I'm not sure he will, even though I'd love him to take over.

Interesting to hear on the commentary on Saturday night that we got very close to signing him last time. But it fell through.

Surely if he was going to get the Aussie job he'd have been given it by now

Fred said something about a "third party" causing it to fall over which was all very cryptic.

Your not allowed to comment about that - your not from a country that has qualified for a world cup.
