Brazil go 2-0 up against Chile, Colombia move up to 4th, Peru move up to 5th on goal difference, as they've conceded one less goal than Chile as of now. Chile outside the 5.

EDIT: Colombia have scored against Peru, Chile now jump into 5th, Peru down to 6th. If Paraguay score against last-placed Venuzuela, they will leap-frog Chile in 5th.

Colombia have just scored so we're back to facing Chile.

Messi's hat-trick pretty much guarantees Argentina a Top 4 finish. It's now out of Chile, Peru, or Paraguay. Paraguay gives us best chance?

If results stay like this, we're playing Chile. However, if Paraguay score a winner against Venezuela (currently 0-0) which looks likely, we're playing Argentina...

Edit: Nevermind, my maths is absolute shark. If Paraguay score and everything else stays the same we'll be playing them. Done okay against Paraguay in recent years, probably the team we've played the most out of all of them

In other news, USA are down 2-0 to Trinidad and Tobago at half time. Panama currently 1-0 down to Costa Rica, but if they turn that around then USA will have to face Aussie in the playoff. If Honduras also wins against Mexico (2-1 down rn), USA are out of the World Cup.

Peru have scored. 1-1. I think that means we're back to Peru? Prefer that over Chile.

Peru equalise against Colombia! Meaning as it stands we're playing Peru and Chile are out. About 80th min in each game. If Peru score again, we play Chile and Colombia are knocked out

Stream for Peru v Columbia?

Venezuela score. Paraguay would need 2 with 5 mins left.

Chile at present down 0-2 to Brazil and Peru down 0-1 to Columbia.

Paraguay need to beat bottom placed Venezuela to get ahead of Chile for the playoff spot and they are 0-0.

All with 10 mins to go.

And now Peru gets an equaliser v Columbia and are in the playoff if Paraguay can't beat Venezuela. And Venezuela have just gone a goal up!

Honduras have just scored 2 in quick succession against Mexico - they're 3-2 up, meaning USA is pushed down to 4th where they'll have to face Australia in the playoff. Panama scores and they're out.

Venezuela still up a goal in extra time.  With Paraguay needing a win, it looks like we've got Peru.

Trip to Machu Picchu anyone?

Edit: The ref must be from Paraquay.  They're still going after 6mins extra time.

Edit2: Full time in all games and Peru it is.

Game's over. Peru are celebrating like they've just won the World Cup. I think they're forgetting they have to face us first ;)

I think we've been very luck to get Peru. Paraguay would have even been better but still is a good tournout. Colombia, Chile or Argentina were certain looses. At least now I have a little hope we can perfom a miracle

Well i know ranking does not necessarily mean much but Peru is still world no. 12 vs New Zealand no. 113.

I hope we win.

I don’t recognise any players from the Peru squad. Any standout players?

Peruvian tv just said that the NZ game is the 6th November and the 14th in Lima - how likely is that?

Andre Carrillo would be the big one, plays for Watford

Peru's qualifying results

We have to be some sort of a chance.  Somewhere a bit short of a miracle should do it. :)

Edit: the results are all there, but the top line hadn't updated for the final game 1-1 v Columbia.

Possible - The playoff between Australia and the CONCAF team are on those dates

I want us to win as much as anyone, but this is Peru who've beaten both Paraguay and Uruguay, and drawn with Argentina and Colombia...

As a kid in 1978 I remember clutching a similar straw for Peru v Scotland... Oh well, at least it sparked my interest in South American kits for Subutteo !

I am going to disagree. Peru is 12th in the world and in the best form for decades. USA struggling and have weak team compared to recent years. I would certainly rather play USA

Oh Lord, if Peru are anything like their 1978 side then we're well and truly stuffed!!

Let us have this moment of glory. We think we might be able to win. Don't ruin my head with depressing facts.

I guess a lot of us are in the same boat. Or plane. Or whatever.

I'm guessing NZF will push for the 10th - 11th, but doubtful Peru will agree.

Going to be extremely tough; Peru have played well over the course of qualifying. One argument is that they haven't been in this kind of WC scenario for a long time(if ever). Of course the counter argument is that they've come through a rigorous and at times hostile qualifying series. Think I veer towards the latter...

Yep, he's their standout star. Christian Cueva (who plays in Brazil) and Jefferson Farfan (of Schalke fame) are other stars. Got a brilliant keeper too, Gallese, who plays in Mexico
