Wow that 2012 team is a very very strong team. 10 players at Championship level or better, with plus two A-league stars in Smeltz and Rojas.  Still missing a mid perhaps. No Andy Barron or Simon Elliot!

Not sure about 10 players at Championship level or better, but yipe agree a very strong team (by AWs standards), basically 2010 WC side. Just Weemac in for Elliott & Kosta for Rory.

more like 10 players with championship experience or better

FAPL - Reid, Nelsen

Championship \ SPL - Killen, Paston, Bertos, Smith. McGlinchley, Wood

Then Vicelich in Dutch league and Lochhead in MLS

Is the SPL (McGlinchey) at level of Championship? Outside Rangers/Celtic I'd say no, nada.

Anyway Weemac had only one game for Celtic (as a sub) plus 8 games in the SPL for Motherwell (only started one), you could hardly say he was a SPL player.

Paston (2003-2004) only had one season in The Championship, with Bradford who were relegated and either in administration or about to be.

Bertos played 12 games for Barnsley and from what I can see were all in League One. Most of his matches in UK were at Rochdale (82 games), and in League Two.

Trainspotting completed!

Splitting hairs maybe, but I'd say AWs back in 2012 had about 7 players of Championship level or above.

And now? I'd say 5 at a guess, obviously there's the two regulars in the Championship already, then you got Reid above that, and Marco + Thomas. Barbs (on current form), Doyle and many more i could see cutting it in League One, but a few shouldn't be anywhere near that level just yet. Gleeson would definitely be a fair shout for the Championship but...

generous rounding on my part! but yeh, went and did a little looking and couldn't back up the 10. And by level, yes I was meaning had once played a game in League One or above!!

but none of them were kids who were playing Auckland club footie. All had serious professional football careers in the A league or higher.

Was Reid in the Premier League at that point or was that the season they played in the Championship?

They'd just returned to the Premier League, they won the Championship playoff in May 2012.

Is anyone planning on making the trip for the upcoming game? I'm quite keen. Didn't see anything in dangerous liaisons. Then again, horribly tired and jet lagged so apologies if I missed something.

There's nothing on Ticketek or Ticket Master... does anyone know if the ticket sale was delayed?

Thanks!

Got my plane tickets with Jet Star for lunchtime Friday-3pm Saturday.

Interesting to see how no one seems fired up for this one.

Yeah I didn't really want to fly jet star tbh - but AirNZ sale started on September 4, and with my travelling being restricted to Fri-Sat I wasn't holding my breath for cheap tickets. Think I paid about $160 or so return...

Now if I can just get my tickets for the game I'll be a happy man!

Apologies for delay, here's the clip of the last home WCQ v Solomons back in 2012

I would be VERY happy if we could repeat that scoreline this year!

Because I don't trust ticketek, can someone in the know confirm that Bay 1 in the corner is definitely the white noise zone?

Yes that is the correct bay

NZF should be doing the same in their advertising. If ticketek legally have to do it, then so do NZF.

Allegedly

Trying to buy tickets and ticketek and it's saying that only 2 seats out of the whole WN zone are free - that can't be right??

Is there anything I can do to be able to select tickets further up the stand???

Having the same issue.  I will probably end up calling as I don't want tickets in row A at the very front.  Hoping the ticketek phoneline is more helpful.

Can you post your outcome please, so I know whether it's worth a shot?
I tried exiting the page and re-entering the details (2x tickets in WN zone etc) and the best I got to was the second row from the front...

Nothing in Auckland is guaranteed, like being able to stand up in a WN zone.

Has anyone been able to buy tickets yet? I waited until after the weekend but I am having the same issue today (e.g. can only pick tickets from the first row).

So FYI I called ticketek (0800Ticketek) and they sorted out two tickets for me in about 60 seconds' time.

Cheers.

Thanks, hadn't had a chance to get round to it yet, so good to know.

What sort of retardedly incompetent national football body would field an ineligible player in a crucial qualifying game?

You jest right!  (wink wink NZF)

If this does happen, I really hope either Peru or Ecuador sneak in to 5th.

I hope Bevan over Smeltz. Smeltz maybe experienced, but too old! I think Bevan could do the job right
