The way things were going either team was going to score and the same can happen in the return leg so it may go to penalties. But I hope not, we should rule them on home turf.

Come on All Whites.
Ticket sales will hopefully bump up a sh*t load for the return leg.

So happy.
But, not too impressed with Smeltz though. and Tim needs to work a bit harder in the next month if he wants that starting spot. That starting place is looking ripe for the picking for McGlinchy

funny how we've got this awesome strikeforce now

everyone pretty much agrees that smeltz/killen are the top two, yet for me fallon and woods were the best today...

great depth in that area

Great. No loss away in that massive heat.
Think what we can do at home.

Pray for a cold day.

90 minutes to go.

Gutted that Wood just timed his run too early.  I would play a more traditional formation in Weli and put Shane and Brown on the bench and push Bertos back to his position on the wing.

Oh yeah, yet another 0-0 draw for the Phoenix players and management, seems to be Ricki's style right now!

I agree although killen played well out of position most of the time but fingers crossed they do the damage come november

Not sure about the 3 striker tactics.
Midfield lacked in some places. and when it came to an attack, the most we had was 2 attacking up front. with smeltz or bertos putting in the cross.

Its all very well to say that we are playing three up front, but we need to show that.
Smeltz let it down a bit. 4-4-2 would have done just fineStefan2009-10-11 06:37:52

McGlinchey was able to brought Smeltz into the play and the understanding between the two was what we needed. Fallon played well, Killen did the hard yards as well and Wood was ever ready, shame he was offside on that goal, maybe the pass was a tad delayed and Wood started his short early. Who was it that pass him that ball?

Hey Tegal, it's like new love. There's good and bad and sometimes it really hurts but when you both win it feels great!!

Actually I would be still a bit OK with a 3-4-3 to allow Mac in the starting line up over Brown.

Just think of the pressure on Bahrain right now.
They've lost their home advantage.
The odds just shifted in our favour.

Well I'm pretty happy. But quite nervous. Gutted wood was offside. Feel like if he had taken a stride wider rather than forward then the goal would have counted. Very interesting offside calls.

If we play like that in the home leg we won't score.

And one snippet fron NZ Herald about Wellington Nov 14:  "As many as 15,000 tickets had been sold by Friday."

The rest should go after tonight's result. And the news  media might even notice it.

You're right SB it was 5-2-3. Leo was too far back too much, heat probably stopped him going forward more.
