Yeah I love it how he wants to do that FIFA 10/schoolboy tactic of having no defensive players and all offensive players i.e drop Elliott for McGlinchey. We would be destroyed in the midfield without Elliott and even then he had a slightly off game and still performed well.

Overall we need to get McGlinchey into the midfield otherwise we won't score. Simple as that. Bertos isn't a true creater and at RWB it is not gonna happen. Having Smeltz no where near the goal was Herberts' worse tactical decision of the night but otherwise Ricki had a very good night I thought. We should move Fallon more into midfielder and Smeltz forward as I think that would create more chances for us and let Smeltz bury a few.

Elliot was sh*t, if you think he performed well you have very low standards my friend.

What a great effort. I thought we did very well, better than I thought we would. I think Ricki's bravery worked well for the most part. I was suprised that for the first 20 minutes Bahrain were just launching long balls and clearly Ricki had seen that in their research of Bahrain. We coped pretty well with the long launched balls and it wasnt until they started pushing the ball into space on the flanks that we had problems but their crossing was poor. Its little wonder they havent scored many goals with the wastefulness of their strikers.

The main problems they gave us were when we allowed their midfield to run with the ball into our half and then push through balls between or over our defenders. I suspect Ricki will have a plan for that on the return leg.
If we can restrict Bahrain to having to send long through balls i think we can cope, we just have to stop them running with the ball into our half so they have to revert to long balls.
I would prefer to see us go back to 4-4-2 so that we can make more use of balls delivered from the wings and that would cover our defensive flanks from their dangerous fast guys.

I think that is the best I have ever seen Ryan Nelsen play for the All Whites, he was brilliant, overall I think all the players did well. Simon Elliott had a poor first 1/2 hour but got his sh*t together after that and his set piece delivery is so important. I cant think of anyone who had a stinker.
I cant wait for Wellington, I did think we had only a 30 or 40 % chance, now I think its 50 50 or slightly better. I hope its a sellout, I didnt think the Bahrain crowd sounded that Intimidating, I bet the Yellow Fever gang will create more atmosphere than the Bahrain crowd did.

Great performance boys. The Bahrainis were under pressure and you could see it. Macala was losing the plot. Lets give the Bahrainis heaps of stick at the ROF i'm not sure they will be able to cope with the pressure.
