I wanna know, have you ever seen Bahrain?

or

I can see Cape Town now, Bahrain has gone.

Three for me, and two for them.

What does Bahrain on me mean?
That is terrible.
It doesn't make sense.
You are a disgrace.

Searching through the EA database forums one guy we should look out for is Jaycee Okwunwanne, in the Belgium top division he has scored 4 goals in the first 3 games this season. Also scored a goal in the Saudi game. Looking at his record on Wiki he seems quite good aswell. Nelsen will hopefully have him covered though.wellyphoenixfan2009-09-11 19:55:34

It's OK everyone, Tommy Smith (yes, with a Y) just predicted NZ to go through.  We can all stop stressing now.

hi guys

I don't know much about NZ tbh but I've seen your team in CC. The only good match for you were vs Iraq but still we can't scale bahrain or NZ to spain level.

I see you have a good forward and I'm talking about Smeltz here, he will make some proplems for our def no doubts but I think our defender got high exp. facing good strikers.

I wish to see two fair games and let the best win ;)Bahraini2009-09-12 01:57:22

I'm not really sure about it but ususally ticket for football in baharain are really cheap (~3$) in the league and free for national team matches. For saudi match they increased the price for saudi's fans up to 5BD (~13$) from 2BD (5.2$) for unknown reasons and ticket prices never reach that amount over here unlike europe.

There is no offical ticket price yet for NZ fans but I don't think it will be as high as $39 that you gonna pay to enter Westpac Stadium in Nov 14th.

Kick off in Bahrain is usually at 8pm local time(+3 GMT) which mean 5am NZ time and it is really hot over here that why we can't play earlier ;)

Striker Fortune (former United and South African?) is injured for 6-8 weeks. Does anyone know what this does for Killen'c chances of gametime? I believe he has been getting the teail end of some SPL matches this season? He needs to play or else Fallon would start i feel, But we need all 3 with one coming off the bench.

Ok that's actually not bad.

ok, after watching that youtube clip of Bahrain i reckon they are quite poor, so ill add to Greenie's request

"don't you go out in Bahrain, don't go out to that poor Bahrain!"

then I guess we might lose our play-off v 5th place Asia and have to play an African team.

If you go out to Bahrain
You'll never have that tie again

or we might lose our sponsor

If you go out to Bahrain
You'll never have that Thai Air gain

i called the bahrain fa on thursday which is the equivalent of a friday in nz and there was no answer.  Tomorrow (Sunday) is the first work day of th week so i will give them a call then.  We work pretty closely with the football industry here in the uae but bahrain is a different story, so if i cant get hold of them then i will ask people i know if they can make some calls.  It should all be fine.  Like Bahrainin said, tickets will be dirt cheap i would imagine.  It's a priority to sort tomorrow, so i will post some news as soon as i have anything.  If tickets are the obly thing stopping you coming i would just book the trip and come.  There will be a few of us heading over from dubai and the notorious robbie laird will making the trip from greece.

So il update as soon as i have news.

Here's a random short video somebody put together on Trinidad & Tobago's win over Bahrain in the 2005 Concacaf v AFC World Cup playoff.

Interesting that Bahrain played poorly and imploded at home in the second leg.

This is what i got from nzfootball...

Thanks for your email. We have requested further information from Bahrain FA regarding ticket availability for this game. We have also asked them to put information on their website in English for fans wanting to travel to Bahrain. In the meantime you could email them at bahrain.football@hotmail.com and ask for any details they can provide at this time. Also keep an eye on www.nzfootball.co.nz because we will post any available info when it comes to hand for people wanting to attend.

All the best

Go the All Whites!!!!!!

Cheers
Tracy

Does anyone have any idea about accommodation and where would be a good place to stay?

I have a pass to attend, so assuming tickets are sweet to get - i am good to go..

Am llooking at places to stay, but i will be staying with friends of friends personally. Ideally i will try to find info on a hotel near the stadium, or atleast one with a very good pub.

At this stage rumours are the tickets to the game are going to be free for the Bahrain supporters so expect a sell out, this includes expats already there working.!!

Still trying to cinfirm this, and whether or not tickets can be pre booked. Unfortunately I do not know if there will be a away fans area of whether it will be pick a spot on the day.

At a guess, I would imagine FIFA would regulate that there must be tickets set aside for away fans.

Have spoken to a gu at the bahraon FA and tickets are free for certain sections of the stadium and then for vip areas it is 20dinahs, which i think is about a hundey nz but im not sure?  they are going to block a section off for the all whites fans and it is likely to be on the left side of the stadium as behind the goals is too small..we even get out own bathrooms he said as an added bonus, but he said tickets will be free for this area..he said there is usually an allocvation of 2000 tickets for away fans but he is thinking it might be 200 as not many kiwis will go he thinks, but hten i said what if there is more and he said..my friend no problem no problem you can all come in..

we are going to keep in touch over the next few days as nothing is official yet so if anyone has any other info requests let me know.

Huge difference in bringing the ball out of defence and being able to play with your back to goal as a midfielder needs to be able to.  I also think theat Nelsen is just too immobile these days.  I watched him live a couple of times last year and although he does a good job in the premiership, he's very much a central defender as in he rarely strays from central areas.

Ryan played all his junior and youth football as a central midfielder - great technique and vision, can play with his back to goal for sure. But I wouldn't put him there for this tie.

Hes not a junior any more. He's an old man and mobility and fitness is key in those areas.

If he plays week in and week out at Centre back in one of the top leagues in the world, why on earth would you play him anywhere else ?

That's like saying 'Siggy is the best Centre Back at the Phoenix, let's play him at Right back'.  Oh, hang on.

How's my driving? - Whine here

We change clocks in NZ soon, so that would be 6am NZ time. Is it confirmed as an 8pm local time kick-off? FIFA haven't listed it yet, but they don't have the second leg listed yet and that time is all set as 8pm here (10am in Bahrain).
