I would've simply played Keat in Killen's role. Payne as back-up.

I think in going for the 3, Ricki is keeping with the experienced guys that have done it before and know how to get it done, and rightly or wrongly, that includes Killen in the midfield.

I would really love to know though how he arrived at it though. I think as someone else has said, maybe he needs to take a step back and take a wider look at things...

imagine if he'd actually given cameron lindsay a proper go at the Nix we might have Lindsay filling that hole.

And take a punt on guys like Andrew Milne & Aaron Clapham (again) if you want to create some depth

Lindsay and Milne???????????

To be perfectly I thought Payne has been complete quality when I have seen him play. I know he is young but he plays well and steps up and there is a chance he will be crucially important if we make the world cup. Why not play him, the reality is if we don't beat New Caledonia because we have one youngster on the park we should really look hard at the players and coach and what needs to change ahead of 2018. Bigger picture. Nothing against Killen, he is a great striker and works hard every time he plays. He has great commitment to the national team and he will always have the utmost respect from me.

Yes Milne until Roux and Tuiloma that it. Got any other suggestions for RB? Nope

Lindsay wasn't given a fair go at the Nix. If he had been theres no telling where he'd be right now.

That's the 3rd time you have said he has not been given a fair go and yet you still have not substantiated that comment with anything other than your opinion. The simple fact is that he is not good enough.

well its obvious - he hasn't been played = not been given a fair go. ricki called him the future of the club yet he never gave him a shot when muscat, smith and lia were failing. ange wouldve taken a punt. perhaps you need to critique rather than face palm? and i said lindsay could be there had he been given a fair shake at the NIX

what makes milne not good enough in your book? he's been one of AC best this year

Bollocks. He has trained damn near every day for two years. That is being given a fair go. As I have said before, in football above about 12 years old, you have to be better than the incumbent to get a crack at a role. How do you prove that? Work your tits off in training and any games you may get at trainings and in friendly matches and show the Manager that you are worthy of a crack. You do not just get given a go.

Lindsay has been put on the field though and hasn't really looked like he is good enough. Nothing he has done that I have seen makes him look like a professional footballer. The coaches also see a lot more of him than we do. I don't think he should have been signed in the first place and especially not given a 3 year extension.

No idea about Milne.

Same old Ricki...always playing people out of position.......

Don't get it. He seems to have a fixation of needing muscle boys in CM. Team looks unbalanced. Looks like he decided on his best 11 players and then has tried to fit them all into the starting 11. Killen is a classic finisher....he does not have the skill set to play in CM. Not  quick, not a great passer and defends like a striker......don't get it at all. Ivan will go back to DM when Siggy/Durante are available but does this mean that Killen is Ivans back up. If so then we are stuffed for CONCACAFF if Ivan gets injured/suspended. If Killen is not Ivans back up and Keat or Payne are then why FFS don't we play one of them tonight.

Sack someone!

In saying that, Ricki doesn't have the best record for giving people a fair shot. He was way to late with Rojas and Kosta and lost them for that reason. Cameron has looked pretty crappy the times I have seen him. Disappointing really.

Rojas was injured for a good  of the year he was here on contract. Kosta played in 21 matches when he was with us, and he did not set the world alight for us. Sure the different style at Brisbane suited him and he looked good there, but in the system we played here he was average. Rojas left for many reasons but in all honestly, I doubt that lack of gametime was one of them

i don't think ricki works like that. you don't say someones the future of the club and not give him a crack

lindsay does work his butt off at training but ricki really doesn't like to take a punt unless his hand is really forced (i.e: all whites lack of depth)

Anyone know if this game is on tv in Australia? More specifically, are there any pubs in Melbourne that'd be showing it?

Okay then why has Greenie not rushed him into the starting line up at the Nix? The Kid has just turned 20 ffs. He may well be the future of the club just at present he has not reached the required standard

He has hardly impressed whenever I've seen him. Fenton and Boyd have also had a lot of starts this season. As well as rojas in the past. Never understood where all that came from...probably stems from kosta not getting much playing time...get over it people!

Pretty sure it is not on. Have checked all the Fox sports,ESPN and even the Setanta.
Very disappointing.

This Rojas debate is tiresome..

There are different stages in a players development..

At the Nix it was a break out season..

Struggled in his 1st season at the Vic, though not always his fault.. (didnt enjoy the Harry show)

Third season he is having some great games..

No Jeff!!! You have to let the conspiracy theorists believe that even a different coach would not have picked him despite that 2nd coach having been there the whole time. You have to let them believe he is all class and its Rickis fault for holding him back.

I'm hardly a conspiracy theorist. i would've just liked the same fenton/boyd treatment for lindsay. james musa is the perfect example of raw talent abandoned by the NIX

anyway JV you've offered nothing on milne. of the four prospects for RB - milne, roux, tuiloma & graham, he'd probably have to be the pick at this stage orrr are we simply happy to not have a RB come Brazil?

Um..... Milne is left footed and is a striker converted to LB. Also a head of him is Lochhead, Hogg and Rowe. There is also a chap named Smith floating about. That's why there is nothing to offer!

Actually I think I'm done replying to you. I no longer question your football knowledge.

So who out of Durante, McKain or Sigmund would you have dropped to allow Musa game time? Just asking

milne can play both sides and I'm aware of his positional switch and career. I'm pushing for a RB here not a LB. Well aware that Lochhead & Hogg have locked that down. I could care less if you don't reply - it's never that insightful or interesting. And my football knowledge is not in question. We have differing opinions. You are wholly negative. Please spare us
