Schwarzer out. Chippers and Kewell too.
Kewell is injured more often than he isnt,no surprises there.

Yeah, but would've been nice to see him line up.

I'm thinking of going to the AFL at Ethiad today. Anyone else going? If you are, can I meet you somewhere before the game? Cool.

after reading/watching the news lately it's looking like

                                     Paston

                    Reid          Nelsen        Smith

                           Brown          Elliott

Bertos                      Smeltz/Mac                Lochhead

                       Killen               Smeltz/Wood

which is a very strong lineup imo, even if Smeltz misses out.

Quite rough on the Sea-monster and Vicelich, the above line-up.  We have 5 quality defenders, in fact, we're stronger in defence than anywhere else on the park so it seems a huge waste not to utilize it.

Have to wonder why they selected Boyens, if they go with this line up. We have two players covering that back three, but how much genuine cover do we have for Lochead or Bertos? Really none for Lochy right?

WeeMac can cover Lochhead, but I can see where your coming from. This is where Oughton would've been ideal cover or even starter. time will tell though.

Geographically correct....unless youve also moved tectonic plates when you moved football federations. I dont think the power of football is that strong somehow.

I'm an All Whites supporter...

Any who, geographically speaking I thought Aus was in Australasia?

Ricki has named his starting X1 for Monday night.

The starting X1 is the same as Bahrain game as reported on Radio Sport.

Kind of surprising to be honest. Will be interesting to see how the 3 strikers go against a better defence.valeo2010-05-23 22:27:33

Yep, same line-up as the away leg against Bahrain.

Interesting, hope Ricki empties the bench at half-time, looking forward to seeing Reid in action.

Was really hoping the new 2 would start, and our best XI would be out for this. Its quite a momentum game. Even from an experimental side, playing the same XI doesnt make much sense..as we've already done it.

Maybe he's bluffing

Siggy doesn't really inspire me with confidence at this level, to be honest.

I guess Brosque isn't playing..

I'm only seeing the links of fifa.com for the folks in the USA livesoceer.tv, but the website is not giving me warm fuzzies that it will be on.

Anyone else in the US tracked anything down let me know.

Cheers,

I looked on FIFA.com as well but couldn't find anything...think it might just be bad data on that livesoccer.tv site. Keeping my fingers crossed that someone streams it to either veetle or justin.tv. Someone also posted this site earlier in the thread, keeping an eye on it as well:

Thanks Bertos11, Hopefully Nelsen can stay injury free, Reid is better than expectations and Wood gets a good run.

Where are you in the US?

Lots of talk about having regular AWs-'Roos matches. Do we think regular matchups between full-strength sides are feasible, or will we have to be content with - say - a match between Australasian-based teams at the end of each A-League season, like league's State of Origin?

I live in Washington State, game starts at 1:30 AM local time for me, wont be getting much sleep tonight :) I was hoping Wood would get to start, if not at least get substantial minutes instead of his usual 10 minutes at the end.

when a game is all about testing combinatoins, why would you field the same team as in your last two matches.  This seems to be more about testing formations, against a stronger team.  For the start anyway, I guess the combinations will come later when new guys come in and new formations are tried.
