Reid hasnt looked too bad too me.

I don't think he's had a terrible game. His forward runs linked well a few times. Some questionable passing under pressure. Seemed a bit out of sorts when an attacker was pressing in the second half (thought his first half was bit better in that dept).

Anyway, now we've seen him. Maybe he needs time to gel as someone else said. Just expected a bit more.

its quite simple ... score more goals than the other team and you are the winner ...

Absolute sh*t... didn't deserve that win..but our defence went to sleep in the last seconds and gave those smarmy Aussie pricks the game.
I think it woke them up though.
Would love to see this serious regular rivalry re-established.
 Nike should sponsor a series.

Lots to take away from game though, played really well. Only lost when we lost interest.

Lots of pluses for us and still a bit to work on though. all in all they played well, much better in the 1st half than 2nd but with the forced changes you expect that. We need to keep our concentration right to the end of games though.

I think the Aussies based on their expectations for the World Cup have a lot of problems to work through. I can't see them getting out of the group stage at the moment.

We were Killen at the start but our defence had Fallon asleep at the end. at 93mins I was screaming blow the whistle, they were passing it round at half way doing nothing, surely that warrants full time.

I wonder if that is what Nelsen was spewing at the ref about at the end of the game? He walked off very unhappy. Reasonably happy with the game, we looked a bit exposed defensively down the left once Vicelich and Lochhead left, but Smith seemed to offer a lot more going forward than Lochhead (esp. that pinpoint back post ball), and Boyens wasn't flash. Reid was a bit shaky when pressed, but hopefully will improve with a bit more time in the camp and familiarity with the players.aitkenmike2010-05-24 23:38:34

I'd say it was because he let the game run over the 3 minutes when nothing was really happening

He defended well in my opinion. Dwelled on the ball a bit too much early on.

Reid showed a few classy touches, i think he was thrown in the deep end for this game (although i was calling for him to start) , but has potential. Killen and Fallon were immense, they would be our leading two strikers by a country mile, then even Wood, I cant remember even seeing Smeltz tonight?
Elliot for the phoenix! legend. Pasty was unlucky. I thought Brockie and Wood looked good off the bench, great impact players. Smith to start! classy player that kid.

Major talking point for me. Once again, if Ricki sticks with wing-backs, can Tommy be accomodated?

yeah, but in the end we cannot afford to be left to the whim of the referee- need to focus and keep it tight till the end. Disappointing end to a great effort. Elliott had an excellent game, as did Leo before being hacked to pieces. Thought Killen played pretty damn well too, and especially in first half I was impressed by Fallon.

Absolutely gutted......
The boys were great. they deserved at least a point. How fekin often do australia Ferkin win in the last seconds. Nelsen was filthy at the end. Great to see the lads play so well. First half we were fantastic. second half we were a bit disjointed and missed super leos pace.

Australia are crap. They have been bullying the Asian nations but we had them for toast in the airial battle. Even with Kewell back The Germans will smash them.

Sure hope Leo and Brown are OK. Imagine the stink if we did what they did to Leo to Cahill.....filthy cheating bastards
