Taking these Oceania games around the country is bullshit, theyre not going to now get a crowd anywhere that Wellington wont be able to beat.

This.

I actually agree, but if you're suggesting that playing in Christchurch had anything to do with how woeful we were tonight, that's going to be a tough yarn to spin.

I never spotted an angle that proved that.  They only showed the players on one side when there were clearly two the other side.

Agreed. No-discipline-disgrace-of-a-captain #10 out of shot on the right looked to be slower getting back, could well have held Killen onside.

Im not blaming Chch, but i think we should now be doing what we can to reduce any kind of risk. We've taken two games away, and its not like we've had a recent AWs game here anyway. Auckland have had more.... It'll keep half the squad in the same city theyre already based in. NC wont be easy.

Christ you lot are negative.

Yes, we sucked.

Thought McGlinchey looked good, everyone else just looked 2 steaps to slow, too long to cross, too long to decide on anything. We weren't "WE HAVE NO HOPE" bad. We still won 3 nil.

43' GOAL!!! New Caledonia 4 Solomon Islands 0: Cesar Lolohea finds himself in the clear and lifts a well-flighted effort over the advancing Koti.

But they played Tahiti away first anyway. So had to travel either way. The only advantage to what you suggest would be to the Phoenix,as the nix players wouldn't have to travel back to Wellington after the game.

New cal are dealing to the Solomons and closing gap on our goal diff. We are going to have a game on our hands next time out.

Well yeah an away game is an away game, you have to travel and you dont get any say.  We have two games over the next window, home and then away, as opposed to the last two windows which started as away fixtures and then home. Seeing as we have a home fixture straight up, against the other strongest side thus far - we should just stay put. It makes sense. Why travel when you dont need to?

And we wont be selling any more tickets anywhere else. Auckland have had theres, Chch have had theres, Dunedin wont have theres. Who else is there... Hamilton? Cant see a big crowd showing up there.

We went like a bag of shit in the sun.

Our game plan was so stuck in stone, why did we persevere with long balls (starting Kosta and Marco and not playing to their feet) and running it into the corners for a lobby cross to follow?! We were way too predictable.

We seemed way to timid to play possession, move off the ball or even take a shot. The referee was terrible too!

On a positive note, the crowd seemed pretty good, Mcglinchey grabbed a couple of good goals, there were moments of good stuff and it was good to see Ryan Nelsen out there, he's such a boss.

Hand the friendlies out to charity then?. Giving away a crucial game like this to whoever in an attempt to spread some love, which may or may not even be received in full appreciation, is stupid. And its not all about travel, its about keeping routine in check, and everything else that comes from a true home advantage building up to what will be one of the most important games we'll be playing over the next 18 odd months.

I played and replayed my mySky replays Lads. By taking it back to the right side start of that complete movement all their players can be seen and look to have advanced by the time Killen receives the ball parried back by their keeper.
Just to clarify now... does the keeper play them on side in his parry... or is the offside judged from the time Kosta shoots prior, as Killen and Brockie are advancing??

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

Question is, are they off when Kosta shoots after that they can't be off.

2ndBest said off and they were inline but he's a shambles.

How many of all their players did you see? Im pretty sure the frame only showed about 3 when there were more like 5, a couple outside the frame that could only be seen before the camera panned over toward goal

back from the game and just watched the highlights and now watching the full game. The ref was a complete joke and some of those tahiti players should have been sent off

Was a good night out tho, atmosphere was pretty good. Thought the crowd was a lot over 10k.

The Tahitian captain was last to advance, but looked like Killen and Brockie were off..it is a fine call. There was another tv camera right there. love to see from that right sideline who was where at the time Kosta kicked.

Indeed it was a good night. I also just got home but hopefully there's a replay tomorrow 'cause I'm poked. I'd like to see some of those decisions on TV because I also feel Tahiti were incredibly lucky to finish the game with 11 men. Somehow I ended up right at the front of the WNZ which put me in the middle of a bunch of kids (not that it mattered too much after the 6th Tui Blonde), I was going to head up the back and stand in the isles but I saw people being told off by security so I didn't bother. I must say I was somewhat relieved with the late couple of goals, 1-0 probably would have left me quite upset.

I thought it was off (without the advantage of a replay) but I wasn't going to say anything :)

You should have just jumped into the white noise zone. People were all over our seats, didnt matter too much cos we were all standing. The security didnt do much. I think they just gave up on the zone and let us do whatever

Funnily, that's what i thought too - I've seen a lot worse from Oceania refs, so guess that shows what a really long way to go it still is.

 Awesome night at the game!

thought the crowd was more than 10.7k! was picking 14k...

Ivan has been a great servant but I think its time to throw in the towel. Give Keat a chance.

Killen was off...

A few things I thought I'd mention from the game.

First of all the game was meh, finishing was laughable but whatever 3 points I guess. Barbarouses and to a lesser extent Rojas is frustrating but they have flair which I like. I would also say that the boy Keat was impressive, I've never seen him before but I thought he had great vision when he was on. NZs answer to Xabi Alonso?

With the refereeing I think its really concerning that it is to such a poor level in this part of the world. I agree some of the officiation in other all whites games has been just as bad, but this was absurd, I've never seen anything like it. I have no idea so am merely speculating but what are the chances that the ref knew the Tahiti players and was not keen to cause them unnecessary legal and financial trouble by sending a player off? Seems one of the only logical explanations. Its not just this incident, its a bigger issue for me. What can we do? I am considering writing into FIFA if I have time but I don't really know if that will make any difference, knowing Blatter and his crew :/

The offside, is it not if a player plays the the ball it puts them on side. The keeper played the ball although he did not hold it - it was played and not a rebound, putting all whites on side.

No, it counts as a deflection, same as if the ball deflected/rebounded off a defensive player.

god that was awful, reffing was shite and that allowed for the Tahitians to play like thugs, you have to wonder what smiling at a player while telling him no more tackles like that actually says. I'm not sure what writing to Fifa will do - he's not a Fifa acredited referee - and nor should he be. Persoanlly I'd prefer it if we got completely neutral refs ie pick on of the a-league refs who wasn't busy. Whilst the AW's touch was poor I don't think the pitch was up to scratch either.
