No, it counts as a deflection, same as if the ball deflected/rebounded off a defensive player.

If he was in an offside position when the original shot was made, he then gained an advantage from being in that position when the keeper spilled it to him, so he's offside.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Hey guys, it was great to meet you all last night! Had a great time at the match. Can't say I'm having a good time right now though as my home country is being slaughtered at the hands of Honduras... looks like I'll be supporting NZ exclusively for this world cup.

Hey, the game is still going, they only need 4 goals in the next 50 minutes.

I know that feeling  :-(

Thanks for the words of encouragement, but we've only scored 5 in the previous 5 matches, 4 of which were against cellar-dwelling cuba.

Well, Germany was 4-0 up today against Sweden with half an hour to go, the game just finished 4-4. So it's doable...

true .I cant believe germany would give away such a lead !!!

So if Siggy is suspended for the game against New Caledonia does that mean he might actually be able to play in the Nix game instead?

I think Tahiti needs to be punished after last night.   An absolute disgrace. Especially at the end. Kinda liked them after their amazing triumph aswell

Or in the likely event Pasty gets injured, he could always play in goal

He is clearly the back up left wing option.

Killen at least 2 yards offside.  Zone was right in line with it.

Just realised that we have mid-week home games for both of the first 2 international breaks and no weekend games - and the last phase will probably be a dead rubber anyway.  How has that happenend, and how did NZF allow that to happen?

So just back to this point briefly.

Last night's attendance was 10,571 but how much would it have been on a Friday night? 15,000? An 18,000 sell-out?

The attendance for our game against Tahiti played in Papeete last Friday was 600. That's right, 600. The attendance for their previous home game against New Caledonia on a Tuesday night was 574. What night the games are played on obviously makes no real difference to attendance in Tahiti.

So why couldn't our home match in this window have been played on Friday? I want to know if NZF ever pushed for Friday home games in general, or even just for this specific window.

The impact in terms of lost revenue just for this window is probably in the region of 5,000 x $30 = $150,000. That's a lot of money. Hell, we could even have afforded to flick Tahiti $20-30k just to agree to it and still come out well ahead.

Durante would be a good addition to the AWs frame, especially when Nelsen retires - which wont be too far away. Reid/Smith/Sigmund/Durante. All better options than Lochead or Bertos

Im pretty sure they wouldve, but Id assume its not as easy as just asking for Friday night games, or we wouldve seen them already.

Isn't it moot 'cos the ball was in front of the player, in this case Killen?
The question of if he was offside at the time of the shot is one fairly asked, but it was a line call which we got and I can't recall despite our lack of ability to finish a pancake that Tahiti really threatened our goal at any point. They were lucky not to be down to 9 men. How Teiho didn't get carded three times I don't know.

Christchurch.

Good pre-match crowd in the pub.  Pity (most of) the staff there were so miserable.  Good to meet some of the locals and our Canadian supporter too.

Great match crowd numbers I thought.  Bit of angst in the Zone at the start.  One guy rocks in and says "You guys need to move these are my seats and there's 21 of us".  There were actually only 3 and they moved at half time.  Chanting was an epic fail.  Turns out the Cantabs like to clap.  Amusingly they also didn't really get the shirts off thing either.

Game was scary, in the "oh god we really need to score another" kinda way.

After match, the only place open was the casino.  Didn't put any money anywhere the gambling part but drank a wee bit.

Recommendation - Don't book an 8.10am flight home the morning after a game.

End of an era.  Vinnie - It's over.

Hmm a bit condescening, alot of cantabs in the zone are veterans of SA, Bahrain game, Jaimaica in aucks, and loads of nix and All Whites games in wellington and as such are not virgins to enjoying football, I think the general feeling was that the performance was just so poor the atmosphere died out a bit and didnt really warrant shirts off. I would still say that the atmosphere was as good as anything I’ve seen for the All Whites since Bahrain and after match celebrations in SA.

P.S. No idea why ticketek dont make it more clear that the WNZ is stading and shouting only, always dramas with people trying to stay seated etc. General admision would be the solution surely.

I'd love to give you my feedback on the game but I can't really remember much of the second half.

Speights Ale House was fantastic I thought, jam-packed inside, nice outside.  Just like a pre-match should be.

Perhaps I was too focused on that side of things when I should've thought about the game.  Meh.

Top Tuesday out I reckon.

Probably should have put a disclaimer that it was a generalised statement?  Sure there are always people who "get" what's happening, but the vast majority around where I was had no clue.  I'm not having a go, I merely was amused.  Perhaps the amusement factor has something more to do with the initial (and probably lasting) shock that registers on peoples faces when they see that I too am swinging my short above my head.
Shirts off is shirts off, regardless of the quality of the match.
I'm not sure how much clearer you could get the White Noise Zone thing?  When booking online there is a wee blurb under the ticket prices where it tells you about what happens there?  As much angst as there is initially, I think eventually (most) people suck it up.

GA gets messy too...best solution - ticketek make it clear as F**k that that the white noise/YF zone is STANDING ONLY. it is LOUD. and they tell the rentacops who 'run' the stadium this.

Maybe dont call it white noise/YF and just call it "STANDING"
