Just realised that we have mid-week home games for both of the first 2 international breaks and no weekend games - and the last phase will probably be a dead rubber anyway. How has that happenend, and how did NZF allow that to happen?
So just back to this point briefly.
Last night's attendance was 10,571 but how much would it have been on a Friday night? 15,000? An 18,000 sell-out?
The attendance for our game against Tahiti played in Papeete last Friday was 600. That's right, 600. The attendance for their previous home game against New Caledonia on a Tuesday night was 574. What night the games are played on obviously makes no real difference to attendance in Tahiti.
So why couldn't our home match in this window have been played on Friday? I want to know if NZF ever pushed for Friday home games in general, or even just for this specific window.
The impact in terms of lost revenue just for this window is probably in the region of 5,000 x $30 = $150,000. That's a lot of money. Hell, we could even have afforded to flick Tahiti $20-30k just to agree to it and still come out well ahead.
