Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight
How does this compare in terms of risk with, say, greyhound racing?

They don't have one single player in their national team squad that plays outside of the UAE.
Does anyone know anything about them? I would be very disappointed if we did not beat them..

This from the UAE national team Wiki: "The team is popularly known as Al-Abyad (The Whites)"
So, it'll be all white on the night...
white, where's my coat?
UAE's star player is 21 year-old forward Omar Abdulrahman who was offered a contract by Manchester City after impressing at the Olympics last year but couldn't get a work permit and has been invited to trial at Arsenal and Benfica recently: http://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/transfer-talk-al-ains-omar-abdulrahman-turns-heads-at-arsenal
Midfielder Amer Abdulrahman has just returned from a trial at Blackburn Rovers.
Former managers include some of the most high-profile in world football (UAE being money-bags and all):
Don Revie 1977 - 1978 (former Leeds and England manager),
Roy Hodgson 2002 -2004 (current England manger),
Mario Zagallo 1988-1990 (Brazil World Cup-winning coach),
Carlos Alberto Parreira 1984 - 1988 (World Cup-winning Brazil coach),
Henri Michel 2000 - 2001 (manager of France 1984 - 1988),
Bruno Metsu 2006 -2008 (legendary manager of Senegal team which beat France in 2002 World Cup, now stricken with cancer and unable to coach)
I do know they had one of the legends of world football playing for them 1983- 1997, Adnan Al Talyani - 161 A international caps / 52 goals, a rare and huge tally:

Recent record:
In January UAE clearly emerged as the form team in the Gulf, winning the Gulf Cup of Nations undefeated, beating Iraq 2-1 in the Final.
Like NZ, this tournament provides their first games since March. Those Asian Cup qualifiers resulted in 2-1 wins in Vietnam and at home to Uzbekistan on March 22, leaving the UAE sitting comfortably at the top of Group E with a maximum of six points. Hong Kong are second with four.
They are now preparing for their next Asian Cup qualifier on October 15 vs Hong Kong.

Stuff saying yesterday that this game was being played this morning. I am disappoint. Dont know why i keep going back
going to stick with a back four, Leo for Siggie.
Defence was the problem against SA. A clinical team would have beaten us 4-1 or something like that.
I reckon itll be james, howieson and Vicelich.
But won't suprise me if Ricki wants to give Dura more experience at DM
Moss
Bertos Reid Durante Smith
James Vicelich
Barbarouses Howieson Brockie
Wood
Subs; Spoonley Sigmund Lochhead Butler Clapham Killen Bright
Be good to see Bright be given '45 and give Sigmund a look at CB alongside Durante. Clapham perhaps needs another 30 or so. Forget Butler
Is that the confirmed team? Press did say James likely to play CDM.

at this stage this will be lochhead's last game before november, so he will need the minutes ;-)
Possibly Bertos' as well. I just dont see him getting minutes under Merrick.
It will be really interesting come Nov if the current Nix All Whites aren't playing and have been replaced in the Nix side by Fenton, Boxall, Rufer etc if Ricki will stick with the tried and true.
Ricki Herbet? Stay with tried and true? Pfft...
Yellow Whever Whanganui
It will be a pity if Bertos doesn't get any time with Ernie. He's still quality.
Especially if he plays Fenton at right back ahead of him...Louis' ok, but I don't think Leo did much wrong at right back last year.
Like TV selection, but Wood and Brockie up front, with either Howieson and Kosta playing with a bit of width or Howieson playing centrally and Kosta with a free role. But that's the kind of thing that need some serious practice. Agree scrap Butler, but Clapham did seem an enormous improvement.
guess that does leave us a bit open defensively down the flanks...but I guess that's what we play to find out.
I hope brockie gets his first international goal. that's what I got told that he hasn't scored a goal for the all whites yet

New preview on NZ Football site reveals nothing of Herbert's lineup for ther game.
UAE sound like they are in very good form, considering Trinidad and Tobago called up all their UK and European- based players (12 in the squad). I was hoping we'd play them because I'd like to see Kenwyn Jones from Stoke City etc.
" UAE coach Mahdi Ali is using the tournament to experiment with players and formations before their Asian Cup qualifier in October.
UAE were three goals up against Trinidad & Tobago in the opening game before a host of second half substitutions disrupted the team and enabled Trinidad & Tobago to draw level. Goalkeeper Ali Kasheif was the hero, saving Trinidad & Tobago’s Carlyle Mitchell’s spot kick as UAE won 7-6 on penalties.
Currently ranked 84th in the FIFA World Rankings the key men for UAE will be star strikers Ahmad Khalil and Ali Mabkhout, both of whom scored against Trinidad & Tobago. Midfielder Amer Abdulrahman will be unavailable as he recovers from a broken jaw suffered in the opening game with Mohammed Fawzi likely to take his place in the team."
