this is why we need to not draw, I think if we get 2 points from this group, NZ Football may say good enough.

McCowatt, Elliot and Old at halftime for Singh, Thomas and Payne imo. We cannot keep playing with 2 passengers in attacking midfielder.

The rare crosses and throw in chances we get, we get why do we seem so dead set on crossing straight to the keeper instead of one of your own men in the box?

This whole half has been despicable.

Cacace, Bindon and Just are our best on show, Surman is just hanging on for us at the back, but it's just a tough day at the office so far.

Just will be worth several million $$$ more than what he was before a ball was even kicked at this World Cup. He's the only one that wants to take players on and find space in between lines. Fantastic little player.

Not much to write home about this first 45 though.

There needs to be a national enquiry into why we can't develop players at right back too.

Totally agree - Just has grown into a baller. Also with Bindon on the field, makes you think what would have been if Surman and Bindon had started the first two games.

Unless we make big changes I don't think we're any risk of scoring.

Need subs at half time. Baz needs to signal that simply wasnt good enough given the situation we are in.  Get the cultural architect in there for all I care but somethings gotta change.

Singh and Payne must have some incriminating photos on Baz, start every game, its a farce

If we don’t come out firing and score early we’re looking at having to watch Aussie for the rest of the WC. No one wants that.

I honestly can't be mad at Payne, this is just miles above his level.

Thomas has been very poor, I don't know what Baze saw in his previous minutes to think he was ready to start but his touch and passing is currently no better than Rufer

Garbett has been such a massive miss for us. Bazeley would still start Singh over him and McCowatt though.

People shitting on Singh while Thomas has been by far the worst player on the pitch. He's clearly not match fit enough to play at this level anymore, physically nowhere near it
Singh has at least done a couple of ok things

Biggest disappointment is how terrible our defending was for the goal, where the fuck was the keeper? What was Payne even doing? Wood? Amateur stuff

They've both been dreadful. Singh has zero work ethic off the ball and neither can make a 5 yard pass right now.

We need to regroup, reset, and restragetise, and come oht of the blocks and do to them what Egypt did to us after the break.

Tim Payne that was pathetic, will be back from Chile in 6 months when they realise how poor he is
Well it’s Paraguay not Chile
Surman strangely didn’t jump either, did he think Crocs was coming for it

Very lucky is only 1-0 but what are horribly soft one to concede

If there is only 1 Belgian we could borrow I’d go Courtois

I thought before the WC, keeping would be a weakness for us

Payne and Wood I think were probably expecting Crocombe to come across and gather it as they were shielding the two targets at the back post, should have been straight forward but Max took about 3 years to move laterally across his line and by then it was too late.

The biggest black mark against Bazeley is how horrendous we've been defending set pieces and crosses

That should be the one thing we are organised with

Crocombe is perhaps the worst keeper I've seen play for NZ regularly

A real disappointment as we won't get this chance again with a player like Wood

That goal was far more on Crocs than Payne

Tim P’s crossing offers one of the few hopes of an AWs goal

Absolutely correct

Payne is the only one in the entire team that knows how to cross

Crocombe should've come

Hopefully the last we see of Bazeley Ball style of tactics. I'd swap a slow Woods for Kosta/Randell/Old, give the Belgium defence something to think about.

Would've dropped Just for him if his other choices are anything to go by.

Edit: And he brings on Randall instead of McCowatt to reinforce my point. Cheers Darren. Callum must be hurt?

I'm no professional player or coach, but even from the time I first kicked a ball on a field some 30 odd years ago, right up until I stopped playing, the message was simple - Do not take your eyes off the ball!

You would have thought that guys that are paid pretty handsomely to play the game would heed that simple task.

Crocombe not coming to claim it at the top of the 6 yard box was just as laughable.

For something that we pride ourselves on, our defending has been so very poor this world cup...
