He has to start. Thing about Singh is he can make something out of nothing and we absolutely lack that particularly against elite opposition. We need someone who’s been around elite players and he has.

He is a walking statue and his only creativity is passing the ball backwards.

rather have someone who runs, tackles and McCowatt can smack a goal.

Auckland will rise once more

I can’t look past the rust, unfortunately. I agree with you, but his lack of gametime bites him. His touch and finesse just hasn’t been there - though maybe that’s the shocking pitch talking, fingers crossed.

McCowatt in this system would work much better, imo

When has Singh ever done anything of note against ‘elite opposition’?

Being around elite players means bugger all.

When the aleague lads come on this scoreline could get diabolical, especially the two Auckland full backs 💀

Hopefully Baze wakes up and Old is deeper than De Vries.

That was a very good half of football. For 90% of it we defended smartly and dealt with what they threw at us. And we had some chances at the other end. I really enjoyed Garbert going through Englands version of the 'cultural architect', Henderson.

Also happy to see 5 former and current NIx players out there doing a decent job of containing England.

Gordon===>Barcelona
Tim Payne ==> Real Madrid

On physicality, this Anderson seems made of glass. Ankles clipped and he’s rolling around like he’s been shot.

Re: Singh- we saying he’s just not guna be up to speed in time? Don’t think Baze is the kind of coach who’ll make a decision like that. It’s been Singh for two years, we won’t cut him at the post.

That's an embarrassing pen to give even if onside.

A bit harsh, few in the team can release Just like Singh did for that chance in that first half, it’s subtle but that’s the difference. He’s also got a good shot on him. He needs the game time sure but has to start imo.

Thank god Baze has realised how out of his depth FDV is and put Old on instead

Never thought I'd see the day Baze puts Bindon on RB instead of Elliot and Old for Payne at LB instead of FDV

We should try Just or Garbett at cam

I find it a little inflexible that they don't stop the clock for mandated drink breaks. Creates a false sense of time as the game/half closes down.
Edit: presumably it is a mandated time - 3 minutes?

Singh too might have lost his starting spot, but he’ll still have an important impact role if he’s not starting and he needs the minutes in his legs…

Cheap shot by Bellingham on Stamenic. 😤

Since Max is getting so much time, does that mean he is the #1?

I’d say so, at this stage he’s slightly more reliable than AP.

Oh great, De Vries.

Probably should use this oppurtunity to practice stealing a result from behind in the final 10 minutes. Nevermind if we go down 3 nil in a friendly trying. A real world scenario is needing to snatched a goal to secure points.

Defensive frailities obviously taken into account - playing further forward as set piece / crossing specialist (not good timing for Wood to leave the field)

This game kinda sums up Baze's tenure. We are solid, put in a good shift against more fancied opposition but still lose.

And a sprinkling of the classic lapse of concentration to concede at the bookend of a half.

Then lose the next 4 - 0 against an opponent of less significance

All in all it went better than expected. A couple of decent chances throughout but ultimately were dominated across all facets by a team that are a class above. Singh needed these minutes, critical player to have match fit. Fresh legs made the difference both attacking and defensively (though it left the game more open). I think with the heat and our chaotic form, we need to start both halves strong and take our chances early on. Then low block once we have something to actually defend.

Enjoyed Bayliss coming on. Actually tried to shoot. Had no problems kicking the legs out of a guy trying to dribble through them. Treated it like a Box Office Jets game!

Old had a good run and we had a good passing move.

They gave us more space than Haiti did.  They were far from as intense.

Was happy to see our subs having impact rather than the opposite. Almost reminded me of the Wales game, except no Smeltz no goals. Bayliss particularly no respect for reputation or ranking, just playing his game.

Goals at the end of halves have been too common.

Bayliss has a very good touch and is always looking to play the positive forward pass. I really enjoy watching him play - hope he gets some minutes during the WC.

1-0 loss to world #4 Engerland, not bad not bad at all, much better ball control and composure on the ball, much better dfefensively. Even created some early chances, one of those creates a shot that scores in the tourney and we scare Belgium and Egypt.
Certainly some areas to work on, like finding Wood in better spots, Singh was well off the pace, as was Stamenic.
Interesting that Old came on at LB and the when FDV did get on he stayed high and wide on the left - possible tactic for late in games?
Bell makes a massive difference in midfield, although Rufer looked ok when he came on. Crocs likely to be the starting keeper you'd think.

Feel so much better after Surman's performance today.

But we need to lock the fudge in. The goal and also Garbett's offside penalty give away were yet more examples of us not being able to deliver a full 90 minute defensively solid performance. We have pulled it off once under Baze in the Ivory Coast win. Gotta do it at least twice in the group stage games to have much chance of making the round of 32

Good performance defensively. But we had one good attack that we squandered. Be nice to play a club team and smack a few in so we remember how.

No way De Vries could have been employed at left back against Ngumoha, Ngumoha  would have torn him apart.

I thought the officials did a good job.  The ref seemed to have decent common sense and no cards.  Linesman on the far side got some very tight calls spot on.  Especially in ruling out the penalty for offside.  Not the toughest game for them to be fair though
