I think a lot of us are severely overrating Peru, they're better than us but they're not God's XI or anything. Reid is 100% in the top three players, if it wasn't for Farfan's return to form Reid would be the best on the park on paper. He's also playing for the biggest club out of anyone in either team.

I don't think you can overrate the 10th ranked team in the world

so did the Elo ranking....

Its hard to know how good Peru will be against non Conmebol opposition. Under the current coach they have mostly only played South American teams (30 out of 36 games).

Out of roughly 36 games only 6 games have been against Concacaf teams (4 wins and 1 draw). Only one official game vs Haiti, which they took a while to eventually break down.

2017 - friendly - won 3-1 vs Jamaica at home (Flores, Tapia, Guerrero)

2016 - Copa America - won 1-0 vs Haiti (Guerrero)

2016 - friendly - won 4-0 vs Trinidad and Tobago (Cueva, da Silva, Flores, Benavente)

2016 - friendly - won 3-1 vs El Salvador (Ruidiaz, Polo, Yotun)

2015 - friendly - lost 2-1 vs USA (Chavez)

2015 - friendly - draw 1-1 vs Mexico (Farfan)

They're keeping it secret. Until Friday they're training at a ground somewhere in either "west auckland or north harbour behind closed doors". Friday they fly to Wellington but won't be training and will get their first look at Westpac when they arrive pre-game kick-off acc. to Michael Burgess in today's Herald. Even getting them to talk to media has been mucho difficult apparently. They initially refused but have now bowed to Fifa regs and will be fronting up Friday eve.

I wonder to see Rory Fallon there, but I am secretly very glad he is. Cool to hear him talk on TV and you can see the positive presence he has. Jeez if he was on the bench and we won a late corner, I hope he is subbed on.

Only B787s coming into Wellington that I'm aware of are the two extra Air NZ flights. Are they coming on one of those?

For argument's sake - what would happen if Peru were unable to travel to the game on Saturday? Would we be awarded a 3-0 win heading into the return leg?

I know it's not going to happen, but given the fact that high winds and storms are lashing the country, who's to say they won't at least get delayed until Saturday? I'd still take that as it would hinder their final preparations. Unsportsmanlike much?

The 787-8 they've chartered is a LATAM Air Boeing so I guess they'll stick with it.

I read I think on stuff that Peru are travelling back to Lima straight after the match on Saturday. Obviously they’ll have to go to Auckland first and fuel up but they’ll have an extra day or so to prepare for the return leg.

Flying Welly - Lima direct. No Auckland stopover.

Not at all, preparations should be perfect. If they fly in to late and they are surprised how cold and windy it is, they did not do their homework. I'll take a 3:0.

Would they suffer jet lag worse because they are flying direct to Lima? Maybe they'll need the extra 24hours just to get over it.

Jet lag for both will be more flying against the clock than air time as such.  I would not be keen on taking off from Welly in partially laden 787 with runaway lenght

seems all of Peru's players have now arrived. For whatever reason they are only training once a day, from 4.15pm onwards. I have no idea what they are doing for the rest of the day.

Only one injury concern for them..Miguel Araujo - first choice CB backup
