Kosta and Marco to start.

Plus Dura and Paston.

That's 4.

Any of those on the suspension tight rope that get a yellow will miss first game against concacaf qualifier (away from home). So we probably shouldn't play any of those players. Not sure who the players are but it was on stuff the other day. Think there's 7 of them (including injured Lochhead)

Piney and Chotey said there were 10 (or was it 11 after Leo picked up his tonight?).

It's gonna be kinda neat to see Durante playing for the All Whites.

Yep, anyone on a yellow should not play.

time to give some fringe players a run, perhaps a few of the better performing asb prem players

frikkin ofc have really stuffed us (and themselves) by applying the yellow card exemption to an earlier qualifying round!

I say we track down every half-promising under 20 with even a remote possibility of playing for another country, and chuck them all on, regardless of position.

Can't see any new players coming into the squad but would've been good to give the WSW guy a run.

Ricki has to protect those players. What is it, 9 players with cards in Honiara with an island referee? Danger danger danger.

Cant see Reid playing, he was carrying an injury through the game it seemed, and NC hacked away at him. Big Sam has been probably been on to Ricki overnight

Reid, Smith, Hogg, Tony Lochhead, Michael McGlinchey, Shane Smeltz, Chris Killen, Ivan Vicelich, Jeremy Brockie and Chris Wood were all sitting on a yellow card and have been joined by Leo.

Crazy situation

Crazy situation

Lochhead is injured, so he is safe. Reid, Smith, Wee Mac & Wood are the big worries. They should be benched if possible.

The under 20 squad is basically assembled, I wonder if they are interested in a meaningless world cub qualifier?

I doubt they can juggle both tournaments in that same time frame

My team for this game would be:

                         Paston

         Sigmund Vicelich Hogg

                        Payne

Rojas    Keat     McGlinchey     Kosta

                      Brockie      Wood

Some of our players on yellow cards have to be played, so I've chosen Wood and McGlinchey because, being attackers, hopefully they can avoid getting carded. We can just tell Brockie to sit down on the halfway line and do nothing in the match at all to avoid his yellow.

I think Durante is a given for this game.

The swap for me would be Dura in for Vicelich, but only if the fax from FIFA comes in.

I think we need to play Durante so solomons can contest his participation and we can find out if he is eligible or not. What does it matter if we get a 0/3 default loss?

Wouldn't risk Wood, would rather use Killen.

Would it be bribery and corruption for NZF to say to Solomons Football or whoever: "Look, we're playing Dura on Tuesday, and if you were to make a complaint to FIFA so we can sort this whole thing out once and for all, we'll owe you a favour?" Or maybe: "... and we'll be even for signing Totori to the Nix."

Will Moss be available?  It has to be nearly his time to play the defensive midfielder role.

Playing any player with potential card trouble would be irresponsible...end of.  Dont care who plays(that said) or what result is in big scheme of things.

Problem is, we have a squad of 15 outfield players to form a squad from, and 9 of them have a yellow card. That means we have to choose at least 4 players that are currently on a yellow card.

Not only did they apply it to an earlier round, but they used it when asked by... wait for it... Samoa. As if Samoa were ever going to get anywhere anyway. Stupid.

What if FIFA rule Durante out indefinitely though for defying them? I dont think we should play him.

We can easily say that all 9 of those players are injured, and fly another 9 people from anywhere around the country (National League level players if required) to take their place.  Winning 4-0 and having 2 players booked and missing the 1st leg of the play-off is not better than losing 3-0 in this situation.

Completely agree. But we haven't called anyone else up to the squad yet, and I highly doubt NZF will do this, so we have to deal with the squad that we have at the moment.

I would imagine that it is something that Ricki would be discussing with the NZF today.  If they were serious about doing it, they would have to make some calls before announcing anything (ring whoever is in charge of the U-20's, ring some of the local players who they would have identified as being suitable for the call, etc) to save the embarresment of announcing that some players are injured and then having no one to replace them.  I would expect news of call ups to be announced today or tomorrow (and my phone is on if anyone from NZF or the team is reading this)

How would it be defying FIFA? I thought the story was they "thought it was ok, but it was up to nzf to decide".
