Yep, we are 2 hours head of the Solomons. NZF = trainwreck.
You cant call them a trainwreck, they would have missed the train in the first place.

" ... A 2-1 stoppage time win over New Caledonia at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin gave New Zealand an unassailable lead and the opportunity to rest key players for the dead rubber with the Solomon Islands.

...Opposing them is a Solomon Islands side that still have a chance of overhauling New Zealand and keeping their dreams of making Brazil alive."

??? Am I missing something?

Durante will play in Tuesday's match against the Solomon Islands in Honiara. (NZ Herald)

NZF hope his eligibility will be challenged by the Solomons (at the request of both NZF and Oceania) so Fifa have to investigate and make a ruling because they don't want it to remain a cloudy issue come November - any successful challenge after a match he played in would see the result go against the All Whites 3-0.

I can't believe this is the best way to get something sorted between NZF and FIFA. What a disgrace.

this is an absolute joke
it i not essential that durante play this game, so why risk it?
do the three points not matter?
what happened to wanting to win games?
would the all blacks start a fijian in a test match to find out if he's allowed to play?
how do we know they won't deduct points?

nzf, you are just one big cock up after another from top to bottom
but where the fuck is that fucking de jong through all of this? this is his area and he's obviously suffered from banging heads against big dutch defenders for too long instead of doing a job that makes him actually qualified to be runnign this shit

Nope.

NZF are missing quite a few things though by the looks of things.

Three for me, and two for them.

Anyone wanna take a stab at a naming their own 23 man squad if Brazil 2014 was tomorrow. Yes im bored

GK; Moss, Paston, Crocombe

DF: Roux, Durante, Reid, Smith, Sigmund, Hogg, Lochhead

MF: Bertos, Fenton, McGlinchey, Keat, Vicelich, Howieson, Payne

FW: Smeltz, Wood, Barbarouses, Rojas, Brockie & Killen

Rory Turner just missed out JV ;)

So it is ascertained if he can play in other games. If FIFA are never going to investigate before called upon he has to be played sooner or later and this is a dead rubber

Reg22 - do the three points not matter?

Actually, no. Oceania points are irrelevant now.

Reg22 - what happened to wanting to win games?
What does this have to do with the issue at hand? We have more chance of winning by playing Durante than not given the players that have been sent away for a completely different issue.

reg22 - would the all blacks start a fijian in a test match to find out if he's allowed to play?
If that was the only way to sort his eligibility, then yes. They are into getting every ounce of off-field advantage they can.

reg22 - how do we know they won't deduct points?
They don't have a precedent to do so and the reaction would seem vastly over the top. They might also leave them self open to a legal challenge. I just don't see why they would do that.

Why do you insist on always throwing out random players when there is Spoonley, Gleeson and Basalaj (not necessarily in that order) clearly a head of this Crocombe kid.

Why not Liam Graham.....?

sorry rj, i'm just not in the business of being ok with the all whites losing matches to anyone, especially inferior opposition

i have pride in my national team and i would like it if they had standards - selecting 14 players for a world cup qualifier and playing a player who they know may be ineligible (with good cause btw) shows me that the team is a shambles

you have to be joking if you believe that this is the best way to find out if a player is eligible or not

Sadly it is. Think it was the Dura thread, some examples were posted about FIFA clearing players for the African Nations Cup but then deciding they weren't eligible for the World Cup. This forces them to make a binding decision regarding his eligibility.

Because I think Crocombe has more chance of being his sides number one by 2014 than either Gleeson or Basalaj. Spoonley will be playing ASBP and League Two is higher than the "pub league" you described ASBP as.

And I can see Roux starting for Glory under Edwards next year. A year of A League and he'll be our RB saviour! IMO.

Who you got JV?

funnily enough, if the world cup weren't tomorrow and was in about 15 month's time, i'd say moss would be the only one guaranteed a place in the squad.

15 months is a long time in footy, especially when you're as old as paston.  this bring the likes of crocombe, marinovic and basalaj into play and probably saves the arse of gleeson, who rarely plays a game but would likely be included due to the fact that he's regularly been called up over the last wee while.

What I said was ASB is closer to pub league than npower 1.

The keeper you described wont be there. It will be Moss, Paston and Gleeson/Spoonley barring injury or Pastons retirement (assuming we get there) The rest... I think the squad largely picks itself.

Not sure he will force his way past Risdon just quite yet tbh.

The scary part is when you combine that well known efficient and lean machine that is NZF (chortle) with the shambles that FIFA is. I reckon these two organisations can actually make 2+2=5 when they put their heads together.

Fine Tuiloma will be our saviour!!! Ha

But will be an interesting battle. Maybe Risdon might get snapped up ala Marrone/Behich

I Sent NZ Football a tweet about their Website Preview of the match. They have corrected Website, but this was their Twitter response:

Your preview says that the Solomons still have a chance of Qualifying? Are we all missing something?

not missing anything, just a confused media man getting the mixed up with the and Solomons with Fiji!

Somehow, I do not think the blame for Dura's clearance to play not being crystal clear does not lie totally at the feet of FIFA!!

This was a chance for Brockie to play upfront and actually get off his duck. Worth the risk of a yellow imo.

So we go from having no midfielders to a team full of them? I wish this was televised, purely because I want to see Payne + Keat + Rowe at this level.
